EMILY's List is endorsing her, and apparently she's ahead in internals.

I'm with Antonio here, she should've gone after Abercrombie, who's both the perp and already hated for other reasons. First blue-on-blue since Lieberman and Safe D either way, so meh.

For a personally ambitious pol in a one-party state with very rare federal openings... primaries are the only way.

Wasn't Carol Moseley-Braun the last Dem who primaried an incumbent Senator and won the GE? I can't think of anyone more recent offhand.

Well, are we counting Lee vs. Bennett as a "primary?"

Yeah, but they're not Dems. Tongue

As I said earlier, in a one-party state where open gubernatorial or Senate seats are almost as rare as unicorn sightings, the only way to advance is through primaries.

Abercrombie says he appointed Schatz because he's a generation younger, which rankles Hanabusa as ageist and entitled. Schatz downplays the ethnic cleavage. He also offered to teach his Senate colleagues windsurfing. Tongue

In Hawaii, a Senate seat is a lifetime gig. Or at least till you're an octogenarian.

Looks like she's blowing a winnable race from outside, but ground reality may be quite different. Does the old or newer machine produce more votes?
