I thought about this the over day when doing up one of my Alternate History timelines about the South winning its independance.

On its own non-Confederation would bring:

- A maritime federation. I don't know if it would last the depression though ?

- The province of Canada (Ontario + Quebec) would not last. I can see it spiltting after WWI and the consription riots. By the 1960's Quebec would become a republic.

- BC would be independant and would last though to today. although it may become a US state

- The rest would become its own country.

Any thoughts
