Bill Clinton cracks many jokes and gets applause and laughter.

Then comes Obama and talks like Spock ... Tongue

Always interesting to see how different they are.

In to make this old joke.

Bush has ensured that the books have lift up flaps and lots of pictures in them.

I take it there are plenty of books that require the use of crayons in there.

Not in the mood take any (very easy) shots today, so instead I'll reflect on how incredible it is that five presidents and their wives are still alive. Not sure if that's happened before at any given time in history.

Matching socks are always nice.  You never know when someone will take your picture.

Check this out:

Carter and Bush the Elder were both born in 1924, less than four months apart.

Clinton and Bush the Younger were both born in 1946, about six weeks apart.

Will the next president be a classmate of Obama?

Of course it happened. From 2001 till Reagan's death there were six Presidents alive (Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton and W.).

Also, there were five presidents at Nixon's funeral—Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton—and both Pat Nixon and Lady Bird Johnson were still alive.

It's interesting to compare Carter and GHWB, both 88 years old, Carter is in an extraordinary good shape for such an old man and, AFAIK, doesn't have any serious health problems. Bush 41 not only suffers from Parkinson, but also doesn't look very well in general.

Well, each person is diffrent but I bet Carter's active lifestyle and level of being engaged in current affairs serves him well, while Bush is more laid-back ex-President.

Pat Nixon had died the year before. I believe Jackie Kennedy was still alive but she had terminal cancer at the time and would die not long after.

From January 20th 1993 until April 22nd 1994 (Nixon's death), there were 6 living Presidents (former and current):

Richard Nixon (Died April 1994)
Gerald Ford (Died December 2006)
Jimmy Carter
Ronald Reagan (Died June 2004)
GHW Bush
Bill Clinton

I think that's been the largest number of living current and ex Presidents in our history, at least in the modern era.

As well as 7 living first ladies (Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, Betty Ford, Rosalyn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Hilary Clinton). So this amount of former and living Presidents and first ladies has happened before.

The last time there was a very low number of Presidents alive was when Richard Nixon became the only living President (former or otherwise) as of January 22nd 1973 when LBJ died.

7 living Presidents would require a lot of one term Presidents, which wouldn't be a good thing.

Carter, as previously mentioned, does look in pretty good shape and is healthy. It'd be interesting to see Carter 2016.

Ford was still healthy in his late 80's, so Carter might not live to be 100.

Does the library have My Pet Goat? The Washington Post actually reviewed it.

My son's school library has the other book referred to in that article, "Walter the Farting Dog."  That one was pretty good.  Given the parallels the reviewer mentions, it might be worth looking out for "My Pet Goat."
