Of course. Law/Loyalty Day is stupid and only exists because of (arguably justified) paranoia from the 50's.

Yes. The purpose of May Day originated in Chicago, after all.

I had never heard of Loyalty Day. Doesn't the Fourth of July fill that role anyway?

No, because of the Communist associations with May Day.

No, Labor Day at the first Monday in September provides a nice unofficial end to Summer before we get into Autumn with still Summer like weather in most of the country.  Also, it gives a nice day off for most people.

I agree with this, but if the true purpose of Labor Day is to be celebrated, it might as well be May 1st.

Yes but to keep a holiday for the end of summer, replace it with Victory Day (celebrating the end of World War II).

Is Chicago where the mound fairies arrive from on Beltane?

I agree; Memorial Day and Labor Day are good bookends to "unofficial" summer.

Sure. I already celebrate May Day, ignore the established date for Labor Day in the United States, and do not observe Law/Loyalty Day.

Is there anyone who actually does observe Loyalty Day?
