Buy an elliptical or stationary bike, dude. Also, what about the Wii fitness game?

No room for either.  This is a single-wide mobile home.  I have no room.

Gym membership? Or do they not have those down there...?

Bushie, here's a simple idea:
1. Walk regularly. It's okay if you don't walk every day, but this should definitely be the exception rather than the rule.
2. Every time you walk, go for a longer distance than the previous time. Even if it's only 0.01 miles longer.

If you actually follow through on both of these (and there's really no excuse not to), then a year from now you will be walking 3-4 miles a day. Which should help you quite a lot.

I truly believe that this is something you can do. So do it.

Rain alone would be fine.  When there's lightning in with that rain, it would be absolutely stupid to walk outside.

Paul, thankfully, I have a free gym membership with the Indians.  It is 25 miles away, so I won't be going down there all the time, but I will go down there some.  I just found out about it last week and I will explore it some this morning.

A Person, those are two really good ideas.  I will follow them.  Thanks!

If you aren't working, you should be able to go there every day despite the distance. Consider it your job and that you have to go every day.

A round of drinks says he hits McDonalds, IHOP, or Golden Coral after the dietitian appointment.

bushie's diet and exercise plan were casualties of the tornado, i see.

He had a plan?  Perhaps a pipe dream, but hardly a plan.  A plan is something you intend on executing.  The tornado is an excuse, sadly. Sad

How is it an excuse?  What was I supposed to do, walk 30 minute in large hail with the tornado sirens going off? Or walk in rain with lightning?  I don't exactly feel like being fried!!

Yeah, why are you going to your cousins every night to help her put her kids to bed? That's a bit, well, odd.

I'll wager the nearest gym is a very long drive away from his locality, PK, and doubtless it would cost a lot of gas to drive there.

I drive about 15 minutes to the gym each way in addition to working 40 hours a week. Sometimes you just have to deal with crap if you want to get stuff done.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, particularly to the star of this thread.

Bushie have you thought about walking to you fast food/buffet restaurants instead of driving?  I'm guessing they are all about 1-2 miles away.

It's not ideal diet wise but you're failing at that anyway.  At least it gets you exercising for these meals.

That's a strange guess.  I would guess them to be between 5 and 25 miles away for most trailer-dwellers in Oklahoma, particularly those with a home not in a 'trailer park' but freestanding on their own land.

Where I grew up the nearest chain fast food/buffet restaurants were 10-20 miles away.  Things are just terribly arranged in the Midwest.

What's up, folks!  I'm home from the Dietitian Appointment.  She gave me a lot of good things to start doing.  Of all the things she gave me, she said the best thing to do is change my habits one or two at a time.  She said its not good to run to the fridge and throw everything out as the burn out potential greatly increases.  The first things I'm going to start with is eating breakast, plus a lighter snack at lunch, and a medium size dinner and increase my water intake.  She likes that I am trying to get in the habit of walking, but she says don't overdo it right away.  She says aim for 20-30 minutes 4 times a week to start and then I can work up to whatever goal I have.  She says my body needs time to adjust to a different routine.  She also likes the idea that I'm trying to reduce regular pop.  I am going back to see her on June 12.

Because his own kids are in Kenya, and he needs to put someone's kids to be every night.  Doesn't that make sense?

I am helping put the kids to bed because 1) I'm nice, 2) there are six children to put to bed, 3) I offered and she accepted the offer.  When their daddy comes home late Saturday night, I will turn the duties back over to him starting Sunday night.  He doesn't get in until 2152, so I'll probably put the kids to bed and then go to the Airport and pick him up.

How many of the kids are under the age of 5? School aged kids don't need to be put to be bed. They're totally capable of going on their own. I think Bushie is just bored. Who wouldn't be in his place? No wonder he goes to church three days a week and starts packing weeks before a vacation. He desperately needs something to do.

Slightly OT, but this paranoia about "OMG STRANGERS AROUND TEH CHILDRENZ!!!1!" is really overdone. Statistically, it's far more likely that these children are being abused by their own parents than by some other person like Bushie. The idea that no adult male should ever be around children who aren't his is ridiculous.

I very much agree with this.

Also, its not weird to help family or friends with their children.

It says something about the dilapidation of familial closeness and of families as an operational unit in the modern age that anyone would even make that implication, although I admit it does seem a little excessive to go that far out of the way to assist with something so minor.
