Wow, this is really high rhetoric, congratulations.

The discussion is about masturbation which involves wrapping your favored hand around your penis and sliding it up and down in an increasingly rapid motion until you achieve orgasm.

Not a lot of "high rhetoric" needed.

You're basically trolling him at this point.

Seriously, this is stupid.

Tony and I are both VEPs... Very Emotional Persons...

If he's going to say I'm more harmful than a holocaust denier and then say I'm too stupid to understand the nuances of the emotional baggage he tacks onto all discussions of sex... then he should expect to hear back.

Something about hot kitchens and not being able to stand the heat.

I first read that as "hot kittens", and thought "oh, didn't know you were into that". Curly

OK, I was trying to make a broader point and elevate the level of debate a bit, but it doesn't seem to be working...

I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve volunteered in LGBT sexual health clinics as a facilitator. Open, frank and sometimes ‘TMI’ talks about sexual health are vitally important to ensure that men are comfortable with their bodies, their sex life and the relationship with their doctor. If a man comes in you can’t assume he’s ‘having sex’ because you need to work out what he means. You can’t use the term ‘gay’ as many men who have sex with men don’t relate to it. You can’t even say ‘anal’ because some don’t know what that means or consider anal sex just to be ‘sex’ (i.e, it shouldn’t be differentiated from vaginal sex, because it’s an equivalent) So you end up having to get them to speak to the specialist by being frank and crude. I would say at least 60-70% of the men who did show up because they had concerns only did so because they spoke about it with a friend first. Open, honest, crude and cheeky discussion about sex is very important for sexual health.

In my opinion, talking about sex, even masturbation is elevating the debate.

Did you loose your gonads in an accident at the window factory?

It looks like we do have female members. Two people voted never.

Girls masturbate too.

Some do, but some don't.  A hugely greater percentage of women don't than males, and also those that do generally do it less often.  One can think of libido as generally much greater in the male, but not always so.

My point certainly wasn't that sex shouldn't be discussed in a freakin' sexual health clinic.

And you missed the point of Afleitch's post.

Pay particular attention to the part that says "at least 60-70% of the men who did show up because they had concerns only did so because they spoke about it with a friend first.  Open, honest, crude and cheeky discussion about sex is very important for sexual health."

But keep on with your "sexual voyeurism" prudiness.

I have never said anything about discussing about sex in private conversations with friends either. There is a pretty clear difference between that and what this thread does. It's impressive that nobody seems to get it. But whatever.

The point was than people are afraid of talking of sex with the doctor, because they don't know him.

But again this is not the point I was trying to make. Certainly, it is important to have a population perfectly aware of the various aspects of sexuality and how they relate to health, emotion and human relationships, and not ashamed of discussing these issues when they are relevant. What in the world does this have to do with making a gazillion threads about masturbation in a political forum? Or with the objectifying commercials you find on every billboard? Or with the trashy TV shows that clutter airwaves?

I'm glad I don't spend any time worrying about "what threads do."  It opens up more room in my schedule for masturbating.

Oh, I agree with you, don't doubt that, but I think talking too mouch of sexuality is less of a problem than the reverse problem (sex being an unbreakable taboo).

There's nobody (or almost nobody) on this forum who's arguing for the latter, though... It seems that people like Lief and Snowguy see any slightly critical approach toward the omnipresence of sex in society as an intolerable sign of outdated puritanism... Roll Eyes

I'm surprised a young brown stallion like Bill gets that riled up over an elderly gay who has been put out to pasture.  Who knew?
