I have never said anything about discussing about sex in private conversations with friends either. There is a pretty clear difference between that and what this thread does. It's impressive that nobody seems to get it. But whatever.

The point was than people are afraid of talking of sex with the doctor, because they don't know him.

But again this is not the point I was trying to make. Certainly, it is important to have a population perfectly aware of the various aspects of sexuality and how they relate to health, emotion and human relationships, and not ashamed of discussing these issues when they are relevant. What in the world does this have to do with making a gazillion threads about masturbation in a political forum? Or with the objectifying commercials you find on every billboard? Or with the trashy TV shows that clutter airwaves?

Oh, I agree with you, don't doubt that, but I think talking too mouch of sexuality is less of a problem than the reverse problem (sex being an unbreakable taboo).

There's nobody (or almost nobody) on this forum who's arguing for the latter, though... It seems that people like Lief and Snowguy see any slightly critical approach toward the omnipresence of sex in society as an intolerable sign of outdated puritanism...

I agree with Antonio V on something... interesting.

I think a good comparison is if people were talking about money more and more in casual conversation. I'm sure some of you might be uncomfortable discussing your spending habits or how much you make. It's a good idea for people to understand the basics, but putting it everywhere does not make for a healthy society. The same goes for sex.
