Credit for the title goes to the great Bacon King. The point of this thread is to summarize international elections using gifs, totally unrelated to the election itself.

To kick it off, a really recent one which is really fun:

BC 2013

BC Liberals the day before the election:

BC NDP the day before the election:

BC NDP leader Adrian Dix is asked who will win tomorrow:

What the pollsters said BCers would do to the Liberals:

What we told people who said the BC Liberals would actually win:

What we told the people who were all "THE LIBERALS ARE CLOSING IN"

NDP supporters when the Liberals were still leading on early returns after 30 minutes:

CBC PROJECTS THE NEXT GOVERNMENT WILL BE A LIBERAL GOVERNMENT

The next day:

BC Liberals:

Premier Christy Clark:

BC NDP:

What the BC NDP election night rally was supposed to be like:

What it ended up being:

BC Liberals to BC NDP:

A summary of the BC NDP's campaign:

I can cover any interesting international election. Any requests?

Italy 2013

Berlusconi's policies, platform, goals, vision etc since 1994:

Berlusconi's record since 1994:

The delirious crowds at Bersani rallies:

Meanwhile, Mario Monti's speeches:

And Grillo's speeches

Bersani's platform summarized:

A few months before, when Berlusconi was below 20%:

When Berlusconi started closing in in the polls:

When the exit polls came out:

Our reaction to the results showing Berlusconi ahead:

Our reaction to the results showing the left barely ahead:

What we were like all day/night watching results:

What the Berlusconi fans were like:

Phew, the left eeked out a win. The 'victory' speech:

The PD campaign summarized

No, this is more accurate:

Matteo Renzi meeting Bersani the next day:

When we realized what the hell just happened:

Bersani: "damn I kind of screwed this thing up no?"

Also, the Grillists did really well. Grillo was like:

We were like:

Angela Merkel was like:

Our reaction to the whole damn thing:

What everybody else thought of Italy the next day:

Bersani to the Grillists after the election:

But the Grillists were like:

When we asked Bersani about a grand coalition with Silvio:

But then the PD formed a government with Berlusconi. We were like:

What we thought when Enrico Letta announced his government:

And Berlusconi was like:

Further requests?

Venezuela 2013, please. Maduro vs. Capriles and Chávez appearing in front of Maduro as a bird, like the Holy Spirit.

Venezuela 2013

Chavez' cancer came back and got really bad. Every Chavista was like:

Then he died:

America was like:

Chavez's parting words:

A bus driver named Nicolas became his successor:

But then Chavez returned:

Nicolas claimed that he came back as a bird, so he began talking to a bird:

Everybody was like:

The election day came and it was a huge clusterfark. The opposition said they won:

The government was like:

Nicolas said he won and everybody was like:

Capriles was like "U RIGGED TEH ELECTIONS" and Nicolas was like:

The opposition was pissed off:

And Capriles said he wasn't gonna let this go:

And then everybody stopped giving a sh**t about Venezuela:

Was the last one not that good or something?

Regardless, UK 2010 will be next and Adam wanted me to do Greece 2012, and it sounds fun as well.

It was great, but I think you should have mentioned that Maduro thought he'd win by 10-20 points and he just barely won.

My suggestions: Mexico '06, South Africa '09, France '02, Canada '11, Bradford West by-election '12 (Grin Grin Grin)

I'm really enjoying this decidedly non-academic side of your political analysis, Hash. Great work.

Canada'11 would be a pretty depressing exercise for Hash, but it's definitely worth it, indeed!

Or if you want to smile a bit, you can do 1993 instead. Cheesy

Canada 1993 and US House of Representatives 1894 would be interesting, to say the least.
