First half DOMINATION - and I mean DOMINATION - by the Azzurri! Amazing chances for us while Spain have barely had any. The divas are in shock and exhausted.

Overtime. I'm so proud of how we have done. We have controlled this game.

The disgusting Spanish are trying every way they can to steal this one. And they're failing.

Terrible way to lose, of course, but what a great game. Italy made me so proud.

And this essentially confirms neither Spain nor Brazil will win the title next year. Wink

These games are basically just glorified friendlies anyway, so I suppose there's some comfort in that for you Italy fans.

Though admittedly it would still have been great to see Spain lose for once. Their dominance is really starting to tire me.

Fact: in the last two Confederations Cups, the third place team has advanced further in the following World Cup than the Confederations Cup champs and runners up. So now we just have to get third. Wink

In the case of the 2009 Cup, the third place team won the next World Cup. Going back even further to 2001, the fourth place team won the following World Cup.

So Uruguay to win in Brazil again in 2014. Excellent.

And Italy would have won if Balotelli weren't injured. They were the better team, but couldn't put their chances away.

No, that's nonsense. He performed poorly against Spain in both Euro clashes last year. Hell, it took him being yanked for us to score just a few minutes later in the Group game. He gets very frustrated. It's hit or miss. Against Spain last year, they were both misses and the first game featured him throwing a fit.

There were so many chances we let slip, I'll readily admit that. Maggio was arguably our star today but he let some perfect opportunities pass.

And I like our chances in the Third Place Match, smartass. Wink After today, we most certainly deserve it.

Yeah, but 2013 Balotelli is a lot better than 2012 Balotelli.

I'll admit: if Italy can't win it, Uruguay is one of the sides I'd like to see get it (especially since it'll be on Brazilian soil).

I don't think Uruguay could actually win it, but I would put good money on another one of Brazil's traditional rivals (Argentina) winning it, which would be almost as hilarious. They're my pick to win in 2014, at least at the moment.

At this point, I'd say Germany and Argentina are the favorites for next year. Italy has been established as a clear contender.
