i think shed be great.

young, attractive, a minority (ethnically and religiously), combat veteran...and progressive.  though i realize most here prefer the conservative democrats.

She certainly has a future, though probably in 2020 or later.

too young, no leadership position, too new into congress, no national ID, no big donor base...

other than that, she's perfect

Religious minorities might sometimes succeed in politics, but there's no indication that it's an advantage. It could easily be a problem in a majority Christian country.

Gabbard might excite younger voters, and has a solid military record.

But she's really inexperienced (just elected to Congress with four years of work in local legislatures). Her previous conservative positions on topics like gay marriage can make her an effective surrogate to swing voters, although it allows opponents to define her as potentially untrustworthy (maybe she'll change her mind on something else when she turns 39.)

She'd be great with a bit more experience. But right now she just strikes me as someone who'd end up like a smarter Sarah Palin.

Not for 2016, it would be too early then. We would probably have a field day with the "style over substance" issue. 2020 sounds about right, if she can maybe get the governorship in 2018 she would be a solid VP, or presidential candidate.

Basically what everyone else has said. Not yet, and she needs more experience. I can see her being chosen in the 2020's once the Dems take back the house; by then, she'd be in the position to get a chairmanship. Or she could go for the state house in '18. If the state house were open in '14 she could even get it then, though it'd be a lot tougher.

VP, lol no.

Give her 20 years and she might become a Senate candidate.

She could be a national candidate in the 2020's, and potentially governor or senate material around 2018.. until then she is stuck in the house. Although she one of if not the most attractive congresswomen in the house and I would love to see her take on a more active role for the party on a national level.

Tulsi Gabbard would actually be a great Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidate for 2020. She might be a bit too inexperienced in 2016 though.

A lot of them probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, unfortunately
