Her age is more likely to hurt her in the Democratic primary than in the general election (only two candidates over 60 had ever been nominated by the dems since the 1820s).

I think this ploy is to make Democrats turn against her and pick someone else the Republicans would have a better chance at beating.

Yeah. I'm sure part of it is reminding voters who thought that Dole and McCain were too old that Clinton's pretty close to that.

Don't you mean the 1920s?  Because I counted 8 since the 1820s.

Sorry I should specified that it doesn't count people who were already president by the time of ther 60th birthday. (of course the Dems renominated them!) So that removes Roosevelt, Truman, etc.

Also I went back and counted and it was actually 5 times not 2 like I said. I thought Jackson was younger and I forgot about Cass and Tilden. But I couldn't find anyone who was as old as Clinton will be.

This is what she should say: "I won't hold my opponent's youth and inexperience against him."

Age is relative and I wouldn't call it into question until 75. Presidents should be between 50-75

And they almost got 40% of the popular vote.

They are only doing so because she is a female. They can't close the gender gap.  If they had someone as talented, a spouse of a fmr prez, they would run her ad well.

Yeah, all Hillary need to do if they attack her for that is point to Reagan.

In 2016, Hillary will actually be about eight or nine months younger than Reagan was in 1980. Thats almost like being a year younger.

If only she appeared as young as Reagan did though. He had the appearance and charisma of a 40 year old.

True, but it's interesting that their 1904 VP nominee was born only a couple of years later than their 1856 VP nominee.

True. Time has not been the kindest to Mrs. Clinton.

She really doesn't look that old.

Do female candidates all have to be supermodels?

This is a random and interesting tidbit. Thanks for this.

No and she could still win, but she doesn't appear as youthful as Reagan did at 69. Perception is everything. If I'm correct Romney was about as old as McCain was and no one questioned his age.

"I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience," Ronald Reagan quipped during the 1984 presidential debates when asked if, at 73, he is too old to be President.

The nigga had Alzheimer's as President, and he's still hailed as a God.

Reagan may have been many things, including a bad president, but I dont think he was a 'nigga'

Romney was 65, McCain was 72. That's a 7 year difference, though Romney looked like he was in his 40s while McCain looked to be about 80.

This is just interesting in retrospect since Republicans nominated someone even older than HRC.

They did effectively exploit doubts about her health though, even if the actual charges were without merit. Her fainting on 9/11 was much better for Trump than Reagan's debate quip was for Mondale.
