Does John McCain have a chance of winning the Republican nomination in 2008?

It's a dangerous combination that he wants it and played good soldier in 2004. I sure hope he doesn't.

I dont see him getting the nomination, but I think he would be a deadly general election candidate.

I think he could get the nomination, and would go on  to win easily.
Can he convince the base he is conservative enough is really the only question

If so, I'm voting Democrat.

He has a shot at it.

It's a long shot, but it's a shot nonetheless.

Yes.  I didn't think so at first, but if Rudy and Condoleeza are the Repubs top 2 picks as of right now, McCain can certainly be a possibility.

No, he's too old, but Dole was older when he ran in 1996.

it's possible but unlikely.

if the Republican Party were ruled by sane people, he would have a chance, but with the religious right being what it is, he will lose to either Rick Santorum or George Allen in the upcoming Republican primaries, albeit narrowly.

His health is questionable, as is his wife's.  That being said, I really hope that he doesn't run.  I'd hate to have to vote against a real war hero, but so help me, I will.

LOL.

I love all of these threads, especially ones regarding John McCain and a possible run for the White House in 2008. I'm surprised that despite my vote of confidence in John McCain in his quest for the 2008 Republican Nomination, the majority of people on the Atlas Forum do not agree with me. But this Barack Obama character, he has no chance at defeating Hillary, and why would he? The Clinton Machine in the Democratic Party is un-removable.

HAHAHA bringing up these threads is just a tad unfair. It just lets us know how ridiculous all the sh**t we say now is going to be in a couple of months.
