An article from USAtoday:
"A conservative group has come out and endorsed GOP Rep. Shelley Moore Capito's primary opponent for Senate, another sign that the veteran lawmaker won't have an easy ride.

The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC), which has previously endorsed Tea Party favorites in their Senate bids, gave its support last week to Pat McGeehan, a former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates.

"Pat McGeehan is a constitutional conservative who will stand with Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in the United States Senate," said Stephanie Butcher, a regional director of the RLC. "His work during his time in the state legislature proves he is the conservative choice in this election."

Republicans have high hopes of winning the 2014 Senate race in West Virginia, where Democrat Jay Rockefeller is retiring. Capito, first elected to the House in 2000, is raising money at a fast clip, and a strong Democratic candidate has yet to come forward.

The Club for Growth and other conservative groups have criticized Capito's candidacy, particularly her vote for the federal government's bailout of banks. But the Club for Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund, another organization that has come out in the past for GOP candidates outside of the mainstream, have yet to endorse McGeehan, who holds the record for the most "no" votes in one term in the West Virginia House of Delegates."

Capito isn't a constitutional conservative?

She's pro-choice, voted Don't ask don't tell's repeal. She represents the business faction of the gop.
Tennant won't probably run, but she's our best candidate to hold this seat!

SMC would be the favorite. I have never said the contrary. But I have the right to be happy if Tennant runs Tongue.

A vote for Tennant is a vote for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who is committed to fighting the coal industry. Capito will have to spin it this way.

Isn't that what Republicans do with every Democratic senatorial candidate running in red states?

"A vote for [insert name here] is a vote for Harry Reid."

And it works (a)

I can see his overall approval being something like 29/59.

Not a surprise Tongue.

But it's a problem of name recognition. Republicans are favored but this race will be closer; lean republican.

Call me pessimistic, but I tend to agree with this guy's column on CD1:

I think the jury may still be out on the first point, but McKinley definitely has a pro-coal record and Obama will be tough to overcome.

Unfortunately, you're right. WV democrats will lose big in 2014 I guess

I was confused for a sec, as I thought there were 34 districts, but I found out that 2 members serve a district! And that they must be from a different county. Interesting.

Anyway, painful seeing so many uber Romney districts in '12 being rated as "Likely D". West Virginia will probably survive the longest in the disappearance of blue dogs and yellow dogs.
Do you know how many wv state senate districts Obama carried in 2012? O!!! Tongue

Isn't Capito pro-choice? I can't see abortion becoming an issue.

Yeah, she's decently pro-choice too. Let's hope some crazy socon third-party guy runs.
She was pro-choice.

If this bill is unconstitutional, that is a waste of time.
