I want Ron Paul's younger clone (Not Rand), Gary Johnson, Jon Huntsman.

I think it will be Marco Rubio or Chris Christie.

Okay, before I begin I'd just like to state that I don't think the Democrats will be able to win the election in 2016. There's been far to much anti-Obama/anti-Democrat/anti-liberal rhetoric from the conservatives these last 5 years. I don't think Democrats are liberals by any stretch of the imagination, but that won't matter come election time. I also feel this rhetoric will only get stronger after the 2014 mid terms.

That said, here's what I think will happen (presuming the GOP will win the general election):

Who I want the party to nominate: Joe Biden
Biden's the next in line for the nomination, and if the Democrats aren't going to win the election, they might as well nominate someone just so they can "have the go they deserve" because of their service to the party and country (e.g. John McCain in 2008, or Bob Dole in 1996)

Who I think the party will nominate: Hillary Clinton
I think its a mistake to nominate a strong candidate like Hillary in a year when you're not going to win. However, for many reasons (some of which have been mentioned by earlier posters) I think the Democrats will let Hilary have a go.

I also want to point out that I realize Hillary may never get a chance to run again if she doesn't run in 2016.
The first reason being, between her last run in 2008 and the election of 2020, there will be many more Democrats who will have gained enough fame/experience to challenge her for the nomination of presidential candidate.
The second reason is simply that age is not on her side. By 2016, Hillary will be 69 - roughly eight or nine months younger than Reagan was when he became president. By 2020, Hillary will be 73 - a year older than John McCain was when he ran for president in 2008.

Hillary Clinton, without a doubt. Every Democratic demographic loves here and she's been around long enough that she knows how things work. I'm usually extremely reluctant to back political families, but in her case, I'm willing to make an exception. There's nobody else who even comes close.

Want: A Democrat who's truly anti-establishment and won't betray the grassroots (e.g., a Democratic Ron Paul, preferably but not necessarily female). But who actually stands a chance at winning because their far-out positions are actually broadly popular.

Unfortunately, the only one who comes close to that description is Bernie Sanders, and as Walter pointed out, he's a Socialist.

Expect: I'm not expecting Hillary Clinton to win. Female candidates have a tough time really building support and I won't believe it unless I see it.

If it's Cruz, Paul, Walker, or Santorum against Hillary, I'll go Hillary.

Want: Jon Huntsman
Expect: Chris Christie

Of the candidates being floated for the GOP nomination, Huntsman and Christie are the only ones I'm really rooting for. Paul is one that I do admire as well, but there are stances he has that also make me hesitant to support him fully. Other than those three, I can't think of other contenders that I would want to support.

Want: Ayotte, she's probably the match against any other Northeast Dem (except, possibly, HRC) anyways, I think that Ayotte could pull it off against say... Biden, Warren (if its this one the DNC nominate, I'd really love the oncoming New England SMACK DOWN!), Warner could definitely be the classical/generic Democrat, Cuomo could pull it off, but it would be tough, I don't really know about O'Malley because, like Ayotte, he is a Blackhorse... or he is to me...

Wish: If Ayotte doesn't run/doesn't win, I'd definitely support Ryan/Paul or Paul/Christie or Rubio/Christie... If anything that would be possibly winnable...

Expect: Yeah, yeah, I hate Christie and all, but for me, he's too moderate... (he praised Obama during Sandy ya'know...) anyways, I think it would be Christie... Christie/Rubio could interest me... Christie/Ayotte would be cool... But I'd think that if anything could get my interest and half vote, it would be Christie/Walker...
