I don't mind socialistic ideas, I just never had a "all or nothing" approach to policy making.

Neither does the Labor Party.

For what it's worth, I support joining the Progressive Alliance but oppose joining the Socialist International.

If the Labour Party in the UK and the New Democratic Party in Canada can be apart of Socialist International, I don't see why we shouldn't be as well.

I just would like to add that the president of Socialist International is George Papandreou, you know the former PASOK prime minister in Greece... This alliance seems to be more the new left in Europa: economically center left. They're not socialist anymore.

We've always been socialists and as far as I can tell, always will be. Don't make me awaken from my long slumber.

As for a party animal... Cheesy

The political graveyard is full of socialists who put ideology before results. I'm not one of those. I'm an unabashed socialist, and I will push the envelope in terms of what is possible, but I will never 'take my toys and go home' so to speak if whatever legislation we're debating has the potential to help working people.

AdamGriffin is now the Communications Director of the Labor Party. He will be in charge of internal communications to party members and external communications through the Laborinth.

It's funny I had introduced the idea of joining Socialist International back in November, we had all agreed on it, but we hadn't gotten to move it to a vote so we never actually did it. Good to know it will finally be done, and I propose myself as Ambassador there, or Envoyé, or Delegate, or however they call it.

And of course, for animal of Labour, I nominate the Bear, because of reasons. I'll state them eventually.

You know I joined, but this whole socialism as your main platform point is real turnoff.

We've been socialists forever. Have you ever read our threads?

And I agree with Griffin's idea for the animal.

If you don't want to be a part of a socialist party, the Labor Party probably isn't for you. I say this as a founding member of the party.

As someone more involved with the founding than Xahar, the Labor Party was always a party for social democrats. There's a reason it was the Social Democratic caucus and not the Socialist caucus. There's a reason the party was almost named the Social Democratic Union.

As I recall, you were not a member of the Labor Party at its inception.

Could every one calm down?

It's pretty clear to me than this is a big-tent party strechting from communists to social liberals.

Well since we never actually had a vote on the motions I introduced, I uh, motion that we have those votes on joining the Socialist International, the Progressive Alliance, adopting an animal mascot, establishing an official HQ, and entering an alliance with the Canadian NDP.

I would also like to note that we are short a Midwest coordinator and a Pacific coordinator. People, if you can take up either one of those positions, please do. If no one is willing to take the Midwest regional coordinator job and I am not barred by the bylaws from doing so owing to my membership in the Politburo, I will gladly accept it. Otherwise, we need some people to get moving on some positions here.

I second Napoleon's request for the Robot Unicorn to be the mascot of the Labor Party. Great idea Senator.
