Not bad for Hillary, considering the people in the poll voted for Romney by 12 points.

But of course, polls early on in TX always show a close race and then it ends up between 15 and 20 points for the Republican.

Hate to say this but in November 2016 in a Perry Clinton matchup, Perry probably would win by about 3-6 points... Texas is still that red.

Cruz actually beats Clinton among Hispanics in this poll:

Clinton vs. Cruz:
blacks: Clinton +71%
hispanics: Cruz +2%
whites: Cruz +14%

None of the other three Republicans tested against Clinton wins among Hispanics.

This is very strange.

Exit polls from Texas in 2000, 2004 and 2008 have shown that Whites support the Republicans by a 50-point margin.

But Hillary is only down by 14.

Hispanics are backing Cruz by 2 when they usually favor Democrats in TX by 20+

With Christie vs. Clinton, the breakdown is:
blacks: Clinton +72%
hispanics: Clinton +9%
whites: Christie +20%

So more racially polarized than with Cruz, though still not as polarized as past exit polls have shown.  I guess Cruz is getting some boost among Hispanics for his last name.

There's some anecdotal evidence that Texas Hispanics are not nearly as in favor or even opposed to amnesty, as opposed to their counterparts in other states.

Also, this seems to have poor racial weighting, significantly oversampling liberal whites and conservative Hispanics it looks like.

That's what I said.  Cruz beats Clinton by a 14 point margin among whites.
