I really just mean expressing opinions and such. Does this from have slightly more liberal, conservative, or independent voices than any others?

Yes, the membership leans somewhat liberal.

In comparison to the rest of the internet, it has a distinctly conservative bias.

Depends.  A 'liberal bias', perhaps, but not a 'left wing' bias.

The forum is dominated by upper-middles with a preference for social permissiveness and free markets, but it's important to recognize that it isn't left-wing in any meaningful sense. The politics of the forum are not significantly different from what you'll find on the rest of the internet.

I do think that it is left-wing compared to the American populace at large- whether that is a "meaningful sense" is, of course, an open question.

There's one other place on the internet where I sometimes talk politics (though I've been posting there much less and here much more, as of late), namely a sub-forum of a particular hobby site.  The demographics over there skew significantly older (I'm one of the younger posters, instead of the oldster I am here), and are a bit more conservative than here.  Both sites could plausibly be described as having a bias that is "liberal in the European sense", but they're on the right edge of that description, and I think we're closer to the left edge.

This forum loves its social permissiveness and moderate economics. Honestly, most of the posters are semi-libertarians.

No. The supermajority of posters are 15 to 30. It's in line with that demographic.

Trainedinthedistance had it right. We tend to be liberal in the European sense, specifically social liberals.

A liberal bias, but as others have pointed out, any poll on unions or any discussion of race would make it pretty obvious that this forum isn't left-wing at all.

Duh, it's probably one of the most rabidly left-wing forums I've ever seen.

Which says a whole lot about what you've seen and not a whole lot about objective reality.

No, it says a lot about your own biases, as well as mine.

There's no way this place is more left-wing than the people who post on Reddit or BuzzFeed.

no.

it definitely has a democrat bias.  however a lot of the dems on here are very right wing.  theyve bought into the notion that democrats have to be just like republicans to compete in dullard states like iowa.

and yet Mandela only did slightly better against Thatcher than Chavez did.   We're an odd bunch.

In comparison to America itself? Yes.
In comparison to the rest of the internet? Not really, most internet forums have a liberal bias, mainly because of age issues.

Absolutely, but it's not to the point that it makes it uncomfortable to be a conservative on the forum.
