Aside from the aforementioned Mr. Muon, we've had Nathan serve on his town's council, and af ew folks work in party structures. I've taken an Oath of Office to act as an Elections Inspector, not that that's worth much.

EDIT: I believe AndrewTX has also held local office.

Mike Assad is on some school board, and Darryl W. Perry will soon be the 45th President of the United States.

Hashemite was briefly leader of PASOK, the Greek centre-left party.

What's the story behind that?

Long story short, Hash comes from a prominent Greek political dynasty and served as a Minister in PASOK cabinets on a few occasions, eventually becoming leader and Prime Minister in 2009 when he led his party to victory at the elections. But as you're presumably aware Greece had something of a debt crisis and in the ensuing meltdown he was forced from office and succeeded by some fat traitor. He's still pretty bitter about it as you can tell from the tone of his posts.

A former regular (as in quite a few years ago now) is a Labour councillor in Halton (in Widnes to be more specific), a current regular was a LibDem councillor in Preston for approximately five seconds in 2010. A former very regular and still frequent-ish lurker/occasional poster is a (Labour) parish councillor in County Durham.

The record of defeated candidates is much longer.

Is that the Lib Dem who resigned because his girlfriend asked him or something?

As Cathcon mentioned, I'm a mostly ineffectual, vaguely unpopular, and minor figure in local government with hopes to become an effectual, popular, and important (insofar as that term can really be said to ever apply in this context) figure in local government as I grow older and wiser.

Well good luck. How long is your term and have you had to win re-election of late?

Thank you. I won reelection in April for a term that technically lasts until 2016 but from which I'll probably have to resign early next year for reasons related to other changes in my life.

I was a voluntern (TM) on a campaign for Congress last year (we lost by a fair but not bad margin) and later helped that campaign's field operations director manage a campaign for Mayor of a nearby city with a population of over 60,000 people. I had an unofficial title of Deputy Campaign Manager as kind of a joke, mainly because the staff consisted of the manager, myself, and in the last week or so a former intern from the Broward County Obama Campaign. Needless to say, since Broward County was going for Obama anyway, the girl didn't bring much experience to the table.

Oh, I was class manager for a week in first grade, but we get selected to serve in alphabetical order and can be recalled at the teachers pleasure if we misbehave. But I got to bang a gavel when the class got loud.

Too many skeletons in the closet. You'd need someone clean such as myself.

Which of course is the most important role anyone could play. Tongue I served as 1st Vice-Chair of my county Democratic Party (2011-2012) and am currently the Technology Officer & Political Director for the same entity. I'm also President of the Young Democrats county chapter.
