I don't think so.  These games don't get a lot of attention, so there's no reason we should expect all these positions to be filled.

PRESS RELEASE

Sen. Ron Peter Jenkins has booked a high-profile event in Iowa, a keynote speaking event at this year's Jefferson-Jackson dinner, a Democratic fundraiser.

The Arkansas senator, two years into his freshman term, is expected to first privately meet with party leaders about the 2014 midterm elections, the Romney administration's retirement assistance program reforms, and a plethora of other issues and events that were not disclosed by event officials.

The event showcases perceived "rising stars" in the Democratic Party, the chairman said.

"Senator Jenkins has continuously demonstrated his bipartisan leadership credentials.  He has quickly become recognizable as someone who knows when to stand his ground, but maintain a working relationship with his Washington peers.  We are both honored and ecstatic to be having him keynote our summer Jefferson-Jackson dinner."

The Erickson Plan for Job Growth!

Senator Roger Erickson, a centrist from the state of Connecticut, has released his own jobs plan opposing the Romney administrations budget plan, which would involve several cuts to subsidies that harm families and businesses in his home state of Connecicut. The Senator announced he wanted to get his fellow Senators on board; It would include:

  • Tax credits for companies that hire within this country
  • A creation of the carbon tax
  • An expansion of the military spending component
  • Reforming welfare by lowering food stamps, Earned Income Tax Credit
  • Increasing farm subsidies and subsidies for small businesses
  • Remove brackets and lower the corporate tax rate
  • Remove regulations harmful to expanding businesses

The Senator has made it very clear: He will fight cuts to certain tax exemptions, raises to the federal corporate tax, and cuts to subsidies that are against his region. He stands with his plan that will defend those in Connecticut and those in the country who would be harmed by these changes.

President George Romney: Erickson's Plan will backfire

The Romney administration shot back at Connecticut Senator Roger Erickson, whose plan, the administration notes, would bloat the deficit by a hundreds of billions of dollars. The CBO report came out against the Erickson budget plan. Romney's plan is still in negiotiations with leading Democrats Majority Leader Frank Church and Senator Ron Jenkins, and with Vice President James Wilson and Secretary of the Treasury Daniel Ward.

"Erickson does this all the time. His approval ratings dip because nobody in Connecticut notices what he does until the end when he stands up to Republican leadership and brings up a nonsense plan. This nonsense plan he brands as innovative and job creating and he gets re-elected again and again. Rest assured, Senator Erickson, this administration will fight you tooth and nail on your destructive plan."

Romney endorsed the idea of cutting tax loopholes and cutting spending everywhere else. He has also pushed his idea of retirement assistance programs hard in the Senate, something that has a lot of fellow Republicans wondering if President Romney should even run for re-election ALREADY. While his numbers are high (56% of people approve of the Presidents job), his numbers with fellow Republicans are notoriously low (only 64% of Republicans approve, compared to Independents at 69% and Democrats at 38%).

Romney has understood this from the beginning, and has noted that he is not a partisan President, but one who will work across the aisle to make America better. Other plans in the Romney administrative bracket include Immigration reform, Gun Control, and Disaster Relief Reform.

Erickson approvals dip

Internal polling from the Erickson camp shows his post narrow re-election high of 52% approval has dipped hard after controversy with the Romney administration. He has fallen to 42% approval in two weeks after standing opposed to the administration. Currently, he polls behind Congressman Richard B. Kennedy slightly (45-42) and Former Governor Jane Anderson heavily (51-40). Erickson was never a terribly popular Senator, but knew when to pull it together, so these numbers may not mean  much, but he's never fallen quiet so quick in the eyes of Connecticut voters, so his ambitions of Senate leadership may hold.

Vice President James Wilson: Budget negotiation is on House Majority Leader Hamlin's hands/Labor Secretary Reed's approval

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Some say negotiations on the budget have stalled due to Senator Ericksons announcement that he will push his own bill, but the Vice President on the stump the other day pushing reform, slamming Erickson, and telling Majority Leader in the House Reggie Hamlin to come to the table.

"Other Democratic have been very forward and very positive on this legislation, but when I see democratic house leadership, I see them as non-responsive and not helpful. Majority Leader Hamlin has refused to come to the table and debate the merits of the bill and that is unacceptable. Look, I am a conservative, and so far the way the budget is coming along, it will cut out the tax ineffiecencies, lower spending, and put us back on the path of budget responsibility. The Paul years didn't do us very much good in the regard of responsible budgeting, so I am thankful for the approach that has been thus far from Senator Jenkins and my fellow Republicans."

Reporters have said that the Vice President has been a bit aggressive during negotiations, partially due to his hostility toward Erickson, a fellow Republican, but nevertheless, in the mind of many in the Senate and in the Cabinet, he has been fair and bipartisan. He had one final message on how the budget is coming along.

"We are almost 100% approved on the budget in the cabinet, we just need some approval from the Secretary of Labor Reed on some Labor issues and well be set to go to the floor."

Senator Owen Claims Senator Erickson
is being 'deliberately divisive'

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ---

"I'm of the opinion that he's trying to deliberately wreck the budget negotiations between the two parties. I would like a chance to see what we can accomplish with bipartisanship for the good of the country, not the good of our poll numbers."

Owen is known to not mince words when it comes to his ideological bent and so it is interesting to see him come out in favor of compromise and negotiation. Owen was only recently re-elected and will not be up in 2014. The timing of his statement is, however, interesting to reporters who have watched him and know his habits.

"He's not one to usually call for a compromise and most figured he would enjoy the Republican backbiting, so this is surprising news," said one source close to him.

President Romney announces support for gay marriage, plans for infrastructure!

Washington D.C. -- President George Romney, sensing a tide changing on the issue, announced a change of heart on the issue of gay marriage. As Governor, he protected the rights of homosexuals and transgenders, pushed for civil unions, but was distinctly against marriage. His Vice President, James Wilson, announced right after his election to a first term to Senate that he would support gay marriage in office, and after that faced a tougher primary than he did a re-election against a Democrat. After this announcement, President Romney likely faces the same problem, with increasing opposition to the Presidents agenda on his own side.

President Romney also announced the beginnings of his infrastructure plan, which is a combination of repairing roads currently under damage, increasing block grants to the states for special infrastructure programs, and putting money behind high speed rail.

In the Oval, January 24th 2013
: Mr President, I need to ask you something...a favor of some sorts... I know that republicans are starting to fall off this platform... So, what I'm asking is for the rest of this platform is to be a little it more conservative. I know you're a centrist and all, but if in three years we get primaries by one of the Senator Cruz's (Ted and his brother Joe Cruz, R-OK) were basically giving The democrats 2016 to mess the masterpiece that is America again! And mr president, this is me saying this, not the RNC or the RNCC...

President Romney
My plan was always, if the people want me re-elected, I would run, and if they didn't, I wouldn't. So far, my numbers are high amongst all Americans, if a bit low amongst my own party. I never subscribed to the idea that an American President should be a partisan ideologue, particularly to my distaste of political ideology. That being said, we still have a meeting on tort reform that we need to get through, so as soon as we do that, it will be down the line, and its one thing we actually have Erickson's support on.

PUBLIC STATEMENT

I am pleased to hear that President Romney has had a change of heart on the issue of marriage equality.  Myself, as long as thousands of other Idahoans, tip our hats to him as we stand together in the fight for equal protection under the law.  Early next week, I hope to meet with the President to discuss the issues our nation is facing, including marriage equality, infrastructure, balancing the budget and more.

Oh... We'll I understand, I think it's funny because I thought before the New Hampshire that Senator Pawlenty was being to conservative and loosing the support of moderates, then he fired me and I went into your guy's campaign...  The reason that I said this was because of voters who give up on ones conservative ideology would give up on you because of your suddenly moderate ideology.. In other words, campaigning as a Palin (we still have her as governor), then governing like a McCain...

OOC: Jack, are you going to play moderator on some of these bills coming forward, like for example, announcing their vote count or whatever?
