Atlas demographics: How do they compare to the country as a whole?

It seems that this forum has a disproportionate amount of:

-young people (technology, etc)
-gays (perhaps they feel more politically motivated?)
-Third party supporters (similar to above, perhaps helping to get their message out)

99% male, as is expected for most intensely focused interests. We also tend to be pretty white and socially liberal.

Whiter (and also more Asian), younger, overwhelmingly male (and a good chunk of our women are biologically male), more LGBT, and more affluent than the US median. More politically liberal (in the American sense) as well, moreso socially than economically.

The forum is mostly young, white and male, and it's politics reflect that/

Not sure how many veterans or service members are here but it seems to be fewer than the general popuatlion.

2)  Then there is the interracial dating thread where people stated their RACE.
3)  Then there is every other thread that pretty much confirms what was explicitly stated in points 1 and 2.

The idea that this forum's active membership is 13% African American is ludicrous.  If you think black folks who have real stuff to worry about on a day to day basis start threads on the internet every week about the NSA my only advice is to get out and actually meet some black people.  They would tell you stories you wouldn't believe.

First off, I dont have time to read through every thread ever posted on here. Thats just not feasible.

Secondly, no one is 'declaring' anything. I merely asked how you could make assumptions based on usernames, which to be fair, is what you would probably have to do for the vast majority of people there. I'm certain that only a small minority of people have actually posted pictures.

Thirdly, the racial assumptions you make in your last paragraph are absurd. I'd assume that you then, dont have 'real stuff' to do on a day to day basis. Just because I make certain threads does not mean I automatically fit into some of your preconceived racial stereotypes. And as for 'stories I wouldnt believe', we should simply revert back to your original point "please don't declare what the rest of us do and don't know".

First off, I dont have time to read through every thread ever posted on here. Thats just not feasible.

That's understandable.  People are busy so that makes sense.  What I found baffling was you contradicting information in threads you haven't read.  You are odd man out on this one.  The rough racial make up on this forum is not in doubt by anyone regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum.  I didn't even realize it was a controversy.  It is what it is.
