Pleased but anxious that he didn't follow the general trend of Western left being a disappointment and disillusion the left further - sadly, I think his passionate support for the EU would have him equally hamstrung, but I would enjoy his arguments with Merkel, and probably stay a loyal supporter.

I would probably be scared. Not because of his ideology, but because of his lack of mainstreaming. The right would probably win big quickly because it would be easy to tie him with extremism. But I would continue to support him, I would just urge him to change his vision of politics because we would likely be destroyed by the opposition if we continue to be so ideological.
