I will say that in terms of atrocious statements, I've noticed that conservatives/Republicans tend to be most guilty of factual errors and being insensitive to others' situations, while liberals/Democrats tend to wish bad things upon those who disagree with them.

Examples include during the Texas abortion bill filibuster when various people were holding signs saying things to the effect of "I hope your daughter gets raped" and now this.

Once in college, I witnessed an argument between a liberal girl and a conservative guy over extending unemployment benefits that resulted in her telling him that she hopes he gets laid off one day so that he'll understand how important unemployment benefits are. And then, strangely enough, he reveals that his father had been laid off several months ago but that he's not drawing unemployment because they're virtuous conservatives who don't take handouts (more realistically, the father was a manager of some sort and got a somewhat decent severance package of the sort that the schmucks down below don't get).

This reminds me of why I don't read the Minnesota Progressive Project so much anymore, because it got to the point where about 75% of its posts were "OMG check out this really stupid thing some Republican legislator/state official said!" rather than the analysis of demographics, elections and districts that I liked. Even now there's been more coverage of Michele Bachmann being an idiot than the Minneapolis mayoral election.

I think as IndyTexas demonstrated later in that post, the ill wishes from the liberal side (including the quote in the original post) are intended to force the person to see the need for welfare or affordable healthcare.
