While vote splitting costs me a lot, I eek out a narrow win due to Moderates being turned off by Libertarianism.

President Electionsguy(R,WI)/Former Governor Gary Johnson(R,NM)-243 EV, 40%

Rep. Guntaker(I,WI)/Governor Jay Nixon(D,MO)- 274 EV, 40%

After two establishment Democrats emerge, the primary becomes a brutal battle with the Governor of Ohio Adam C. FitzGerald victorious in the end. While his unsuccessful challenger, Guntaker, a Mayor from Wisconsin, supported FitzGerald's strict gun control views, he was nominated by the Green Party for FitzGerald's conservative views on marijuana and not focusing enough on environmental issues. He runs to the left of FitzGerald on social issues and does exceedingly well in liberal states out west while FitzGerald outperforms in the Northeast. He's a huge factor in the race especially in Wisconsin where the left-wing vote is split enough to give Governor ElectionsGuy the victory in his home state and nationwide. His less government and more freedoms approach is unsuccessful in the South, but still maintains a lock on those states.

Governor ElectionsGuy (R-WI)/U.S. Representative Justin Amash (R-MI) - 274 EVs
Governor Adam C. FitzGerald (D-OH)/Governor Maggie Hassan (D-NH) - 219 EVs
Mayor Guntaker (G-WI)/Misha Luzov (G-CO) - 45 EVs

Senator Guntaker of Massachusetts was elected in what many perceived to be a mandate for the Democrats.  Unfortunately, a weak economy and a presidency dominated by the divisive issue of gun control led many to doubt his reelection prospects.  Though he was favored to win renomination, the apathy of the party inspired Congressman Scott of Connecticut and Governor Adam C. Fitzgerald of Ohio to challenge him for the nomination.  Both were equally critical of Guntaker using too much of his presidency to pass gun control, yet each offered a different vision for economic reform.

With much struggle, President Guntaker was able to best FitzGerald and Scott to win renomination.

President Scott, a moderate or "New" Republican elected in 2008 after eight years of President Gore, coasts to re-election after the Democratic Party splits between supports of the social democratic Senator TNF of Kentucky and the social liberal Adam Fitzgerald, Governor of Ohio.

Pres. Scott of Connecticut and Sen. Supersonic of Tennessee (Republican Party): 343
Sen. TNF of Kentucky and Gov. Mechaman of Oklahoma (Democratic Party): 195
Gov. Adam Fitzgerald of Ohio and Sen. Ben Constine of Virginia (Independent Democrats): 0

Ooh, this is an interesting one.

2020

Pres. Scott (D-CT)/Vice Pres. Charlie Crist (D-FL): 395 (54% PV)
Gov. TNF (I-KY)/Mayor Bill DeBlasio (I-NY): 85 (21% PV)
Gov. Oldiesfreak (R-MI)/Sen. John Thune (R-SD): 58 (25% PV)

The 2020 presidential election ends up being two contests: one in the South and Border States, and another in the rest of the country.  Democrat incumbent president Scott enters his reelection bid with high job approval across the board, and many pundits consider him unbeatable.  After a bitter and divisive nomination contest, Republicans nominate Oldiesfreak1854, the center-right Governor of Michigan who benefited from a wide split in the conservative vote.  In order to solidify his conservative base, Oldiesfreak chooses Senator John Thune of South Dakota as his running mate.  However, this conservative base would soon implode on him after a series of anti-Southern gaffes by the governor are made public and his religious beliefs begin to raise the ire of many Catholics and religious conservatives.  Capitalizing on this division, Governor TNF of Kentucky, a populist-leaning Democrat who lost the nomination to Scott four years earlier, enters the race as an Independent and chooses New York City mayor Bill De Blasio (also a Democrat) as his running mate.  Forced to distance himself from his controversies, Oldiesfreak is forced, after much hesitation, to withdraw his name from the ballot in Mississippi, Alabama, and South Carolina.  Instead, he attempts to make inroads with moderates, liberals, blacks, and Hispanics, focusing most of his Southern efforts on Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, and Texas.  Throughout the campaign, Scott and TNF both attack Oldiesfreak over his anti-Southern comments, while Oldiesfreak campaigns primarily on economic issues, attacking both candidates' liberal stances and calling TNF a "Southern socialist."  On Election Day, Scott and Vice President Charlie Crist cruise to reelection, with TNF finishing second in the Electoral College and taking over 20 percent of the national popular vote.  Oldiesfreak, despite his humiliating third-place finish in the Electoral College vote, manages to win enough support to finish second in the popular vote, with 25 percent of the national total.

Though President Goldwater has had a rocky term, he is reelected, thanks in part to a strong third party candidacy by Rep. TNF that weakens Sen. Shua among some of the Democratic base.

1986

President Goldwater announces his run for a historic third term, but his stranglehold on the financial markets, the rising deficits and Goldwater's support for strong federal blue laws made his renomination rocky. Governor Badgate of Texas knocks out Senator Shua in the primaries, but sour grapes are sour grapes. Senator Shua of Connecticut refuses the no. 2 spot on the ticket and launches an independent bid. Can President Goldwater become the first three-term President? Will Governor Badgate restore his party's prestige and take the White House? Does Senator Shua have a chance when newspapers across the country report that Americans are less likely to vote third-party after how 1892 turned out?

Texas Governor Badgate - 260; 47.12%
President Goldwater - 187 39.93%
Senator Shua - 0; 12.95%

Former Governor of New York Maxwell looked like the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. However, controversial economic views put TNF to the forefront. Maxwell, furious at the result, ran as a third party, and costed the Democrats the Presidency.

1948
Facing a moribund economy and a disastrous internationalist foreign policy, the nation's first Catholic president would go down in flames with the Democratic vote split between himself and Progressive former Vice President T.N.F. This would allow former Oklahoma Congressman Maxwell A. Huffington to win on a platform of economic deregulation and isolationism. Charging the nation's troubles with high taxes, strangulation at the hands of "big labor", too much money spent on domestic and military spending, and unsuccessful attempts to battle international communism, Maxwell won a solid 48% of the vote to Cathcon's 42 and T.N.F.'s 9. Despite Cathcon agreeing with much of what Maxwell said on economics, his platform had been controlled by the same liberal Democrats he'd been battling since Roosevelt's death, and had been set in stone by the death of the late president.

Former Congressman Maxwell A. Huffington (R-OK)/Senator Robert M. La Follette, Jr. (R-WI) 274 electoral votes
President Cathcon (D-MI)/Senator Richard B. Russell (D-GA) 189 electoral votes
Former Vice President Theodore Nugent Fauntroy (P-KY)/Senator Wayne Morse (P-OR) 68 electoral votes

1952

Governor Cathcon of Michigan (Republican Party) - 45.18% (185)
Attorney General Maxwell of Tennessee (Democratic Party) - 44.33% (229)
Congressman TNF of Illinois (American Labor Party) - 8.49% (117)

Elected Governor of Michigan with the backing of Henry Ford and the virulently anti-union National Association of Manufacturers in 1946, Cathcon at first seemed an odd choice for the Republican Party in 1952. Once the party of anti-Catholicism and nativism, the party had, in a surprise move, nominated a Catholic candidate for President. Part of this was the desire to appeal to a new constituency they had been hitherto unable to win: the white 'ethnic' voter, which they saw as largely Catholic, working class, and trade union oriented. Cathcon, although no friend of labor unions, had been an active proponent of this 'New Look' within the GOP, melding conservative social values (opposition to New Deal social engineering) with conservative anticommunism. Re-elected in the midst of the Korean War in 1950, he would catapult himself to the head of the GOP calling for a strong foreign defense against communism and "nothing short of total victory" in Korea.

The Democratic Party, hobbling along for nearly two decades in power, was ultimately torn apart by the Korean War. The losses on the Allied side caused President Truman to call it quits and withdraw from the race, transforming it into a free-for-all right up until the convention, when after a series of exhaustive ballots, a compromise candidate, Attorney General and former Oklahoma Senator Maxwell, as nominated for President. Maxwell appealed to anti-war Democrats as well as Democratic conservatives; he promised to 'respect the Constitution' and act in a 'fiscally responsible manner', as well as bring an end to the war in Korea. His retreat from New Deal politics, as well as his vote for the Taft-Hartley Act while in the Senate in 1947, would ultimately lead to a mass exodus of liberals and left-wingers from the Democratic camp into a growing opposition camp that sought to hold on to what was left of Roosevelt's New Deal.

The American Labor Party, which originated as a front for Old Guard socialists to support the New Deal, only claimed two members in Congress as of 1952. One was the young and dynamic Vito Marcantonio of New York, and the other was a Congressman from Illinois, TNF, representing a Southside Chicago industrial district. The ALP was by this point regarded by many as a Communist front, and there was likely some truth to this, given the fact that the Communist Party had effectively used the ALP as a vehicle to elect Marcantonio and TNF in their respective districts. This is neither here nor there. The ALP, working in conjunction with progressives upset with the right turn of the Democrats and with labor unions expelled from the AFL and CIO for having "red" leadership, would ultimately launch and coordinate the Presidential candidacy of TNF in 1952. He would run on a ticket opposing the war in Korea, supporting full on repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act, and supporting a 'rapid and peaceful transition to industrial democracy at home'.

In the end, no candidate claimed a majority in the electoral college. This threw the election to the House of Representatives, which elected the Republican ticket.

Congressman Maxwell (R-LA)/Senator TJ in Wisco (R-WI) - 49.6%, 288 EV's
Former Senator Malcolm X (D-OH)/Former Attorney General Ben (D-VA) - 45.8%, 250 EV's
Former Congressman TNF (G-KY)/Former Congressman SWE (G-NY) - 3.5%, 0 EV's
Others - 1.1%, 0 EV's

In a strange electoral year, Libertarian-lite Congressman Maxwell from Louisiana, a rarity in the state, managed to swipe the nomination. Smartly, he decided to negate Former Senator Malcolm X's Ohio home state advantage by picking Former Governor of Ohio and Current Senator of Wisconsin TJ In Wisco for his Vice President. Malcolm tried to remedy this by picking Former Attorney General and Former Governor Ben from Virginia, who was a shoe-in to win the state, but made the ticket too moderate, and inspired a run from Former Democratic Congressman TNF to run on a green ticket and take a lot of union support away from him. This allowed Maxwell to defeat Malcolm in his home state.
