I mean really, this is like sixth fInksking grade right here.  Did they sleep through the "manners matter" videos?

Note: This isn't about people acting like 2016 is a guaranteed Hillary wash or that the Democrats will have a filibuster proof majority in 2016.  This is about basic tact and not being a dick to everyone who disagrees with you.

Ugh USGD is like this as well. It's much more fun hanging out on the International Boards or Political Debate where people are respectful for the most part.

Guys anytime you see something that needs to be fixed just PM me and I'll do it

Or mod reports too but Morden checks those way more often than I do and I don't want to dump everything on him

You can't report someone for being a bad/hackish poster.  If you could, then half the forum wouldn't be here.

You can tell how bad a board is by how often barfbag posts on it.

By the way, big thank you to everyone who said he shouldn't be banned. You guys are great.

You can't link to someone like Non-Swing voter but totally ignore someone like barfbag or ElectionsGuy. Hackery goes both ways, and one might call you a hack for only recognizing one side of it.

barfbag and ElectionsGuy aren't about viciously tearing people down.

and by the way, Mechaman is a socialist, so don't play the "BOTH SIDES DO IT, YOU'RE BIASED" argument.

Quit blaming others. You called Martha Coakley a "stupid b*tch" because her chances of winning are less.

Here is a cute little jem from another new hack.

That's not the problem I have with what he's saying. The problem I have is that he claims there's a worldwide attempt by radical muslims to destroy Christianity.

The question should not be "Why are the hacks in the 2016 Boards such jackasses?" for all hacks are jacks.  Rather the question should be "Why do the 2016 Boards attract so many hacks?"

One reason it might so attract certain types, is that it is all prediction. So there is not much risk of just being called out as wrong. No prediction is wrong, and placing of the odds, until a long time hence.

It isn't all prediction.  I post a lot of stuff there which is actually reporting on the various moves that the likely candidates are making to set themselves up for 2016.  But most people ignore those and just start threads like "Cuomo vs. Cruz--discuss with maps".  Sad

I remember the 2008 board having tons of threads like Hillary/Schweitzer vs. Giuliani/Barbour, discuss with maps and tons of maps in response. And then right after it someone would do something like Hillary/Kaine vs. Giuliani/Pawlenty, discuss with maps, and the same people would post the exact same maps just altered for the VP candidates (including lots of neighboring state effects of course.) It was terrible.

that's not necessarily true. TNF is one of my favorite posters on this forum, and he is a Labor Hack in the truest sense.

Yes.

I'm more about respect than I am about how much of a hack someone is.  If you simply said something like "The Democrats will reign for a thousand years!" I wouldn't be making a big deal out of it.  Well okay, I did make a parody thread (someone else link it please, I'm lazy) about how the GOP was going to be dead about nine months after the 2010 elections.  And I really am not saying that 2016 will be a Republican year.  If you think you can make predictions of what happens three years from now, more power to you.  I'm not going to bash someone for trying to do something that a lot of people avoid for fear of being wrong.  Many of us got states wrong for 2012.  If you say in good faith with confidence as well as with what you expect to happen with reasonability and rationality I'm not going to call you out.

What I've seen from you, and I've commented on the past, is a certain kind of rudeness that goes beyond just disagreement with people.  And granted, I am a hypocrite for pointing this out, given my own response in the Jefferson/Adams thread where I literally laughed at you.  That was uncalled for and I apologize, even though I believe your understanding of history is flawed and based too much on modern day conventions.  Maybe even making a thread about your behavior is uncalled for, given that I tried earlier to address it with a parody thread that seems to have gone over at least Non-Swing Voter's head.

I certainly don't claim total moral superiority over you, having been a jerk to many people on here.  However, in general I try to maintain a tone of respect and cordialship with people whom I don't see 100% eye to eye with.  I'm not perfect, I've probably been a bit harsh with some people, but I'm trying.

If I could have things my way, the Democrats would be campaigning for nationalized health care and would be successful in passing a 70% tax rate on the owner class and would be polling at 64% on the Congressional ballots.  This isn't about my political preferences, this is about expecting that people who engage in these kind of discussions at least show a modicum of respect with those they debate.  If this was a debate on say "The Confederacy was right" I could understand your tone.  But this is about fInksking predictions man.  I mean seriously.

This is what my gripes are all about.  Your tone, your attitude.  It isn't about whom you think is going to win, by how much they're going to win, it's about how you treat the opposition.  barfbag and Electionsguy may be too hopeful about the GOP's chances, but I don't recall them ever making meanspirited comments towards somebody who says that Clinton is invincible come 2016.  Sure, their individual politics posts are more open to ridicule (didn't one of them call Obama a Muslim?), but on predictions they seem to be more cordial than what I've seen from you two and other liberals.

So yeah, that basically.  I respect that you came onto this thread and responded.  It shows that you have some good sense and aren't a bad person.  You just get heated sometimes.  It happens to a lot of people.  I for one haven't written you off yet, you just need to keep in mind that decency goes a long way on the internets.  This isn't Youtube, mind.

I agree. While I do like Hillary Clinton and feel that she would be a decent candidate, I feel that it is too early to tell what will happen in 2016. For all we know, she might not even decide to run. Until the 2016 election gets closer, I am going to try to focus more on contributing positively to some of the other boards on the forum.

Pretty much the same here. I have decided to decline on posting anything really serious or contributing to the 2016 board until were done with 2014.
