Assuming all else was equal (ie the monarchy not being associated with reactionary dictatorships for example), would you prefer some form of a monarchical or republican government?

I'm republican personally

For the purposes of this poll (until you inform me otherwise), I am assuming by 'monarchy', you mean its constitutional version.

Republic, BTW.

I have a soft spot for monarchies, but it wouldn't work here. King of Chile sounds horrible, and there is not a single Chilean worthy of a crown...

Depends on the country.  The US should remain a republic, but monarchy works well in some other countries.

Staunch republican here, though I do not think monarchy is inherently bad.

Oppose in principle, but I prefer a Westminster-style constitutional monarchy to a presidential republic.

I enjoy the Spanish monarchy. None other is worthy of my esteem vis-a-vis a republican form of government.

Probably republican, although I'm not entirely opposed to a constitutional monarchy.  They're way better than absolute monarchies, that's for sure.

If the resources of the state must be given to someone, I'd rather it be a sale then a lease.
