So what does that mean? Is gay marriage now legal in New Jersey or is there going to be another round of litigation?

I see there is an appeal pending that will be tried next year. What are the odds of the decision legalizing gay marriage being overturned?

Chris Christie is a very, very happy man over this decision.

very little in my opinion. The decision will be decided by the same people who made this decision today.

If The Supreme Court of New Jersey wanted to keep gay marriage illegal, they would've done so today. IIRC, it's a very liberal court.

Seems like a good outcome to him. He can talk about how he vetoed the bill in the 2016 primary, and tell the general public that he respected the court's decision and didn't try to stop it.

Bingo. Not to mention at the micro level it helps on his path to hit 60% next month by defusing at least one issue Buono had the voters' support on.

Yeah, Buono already cut an ad that mentions gay marriage, which this ruling kind of blunts. And that sucks because her campaign doesn't have the money to re-cut ads.

Great! It's a damn shame it had to wait because Governor Christie wants to run for President.

Perhaps he remembers fondly the time before Delaware declared its independence from the Quaker Empire.

Not that surprising given the lower court's ruling.

It's the 14th state, not counting DC, a few Indian tribes, and those NM counties. Hawaii should be number 15.

Been a while since so looked at a map of my region closely.  I forgot that Delaware borders us too.

With NJ in the club, isn't Michigan the state where it's most favored and not legal?

Michigan, Hawaii, Oregon, and Colorado are all around the same area of support last time I checked.

Illinois is the glaring exception now that NJ has crossed over...
