Can we trust this guy? I mean, he switched parties.

He's changed parties - but he hasn't changed his beliefs, which have stayed fairly middle-of-the-road throughout. A governor who extends early voting has no place in a party dedicated to voter suppression, one who opposes merit pay has no place in Krazen's GOP, and one who supports a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants has no place in CARLHAYDEN's GOP. Crist has always been a moderate in an increasingly far-right party; eventually something had to give. I'll be supporting Charlie.

Wow, he's been moderate on all of those issues? I'd love to have that kind of Democrat in Utah!

Throughout his tenure as Governor - his big break with the Rs was his veto of the merit pay bill. Steve Schale has an excellent piece on the voting rights decision. First Republican governor to attend a NAACP convention too.

As far as I'm concerned, the only person in this thread who should be welcoming Crist's return is Joyce, and only because he's rooting for a native son.

And if he didn't get that knee injury senior year my high school could've won a lot more than we did.

Martin Dyckman on the race. Collins flip-flopped on segregation, Askew flip-flopped on corporate tax, Warren flip-flopped on sales taxes, Kirk flip-flopped on taxes in general.

I just saw an anti-Crist ad ALREADY on TV. It was a bunch of statements by Democrats (Sink, Meek, Karen Thurman, Buckhorn, and Al Gore) on Crist's duplicitous nature and his flip flops. Scott is starting as soon as possible.

Somebody in the RPOF is worried about their unpopular incumbent going up against a popular challenger.

You people who say Crist hasn't changed views don't know what you're talking about. This is not a case of the party leaving him. This is a case of him not getting a nomination so he left the party.

His biggest flip flop was on abortion, which came literally a week before the Senate election.

He's a flip flopper. but we can trust him as long as we support him.

I'm more worried about how he will win an election when faced with a bunch of flip flopper ads.

Uh… his veto of the abortion bill was several months before the election.

In addition to ex-State Sen. Dan Gelber, Val Demmings and ex-AG Bob Butterworth are being mentioned as running mates fro Crist.

Lt. Gov. is really up in the air now. They'd be decent picks - but if I'm Charlie, my top pick would be Mike Fasano.

I don't think Katy Perry's eligible, and besides, does he really want a carpetbagger as his running mate?

He's a carpetbagger himself, so I doubt he wouldn't choose another one.

Born, raised, and went to college in North Carolina. Now running for a House seat representing a county she never lived in.

Birth place: New York, NY

You're an expert on carpetbaggers, aren't you? There's certainly a discussion to be had about carpetbaggers when someone from Thonotosassa moves to Pinellas - a place she's never lived before - to run for a House seat. But there's no room for a discussion with Charlie.

Indeed. Crist is a joke. I seriously think people overestimate his chances, but I guess anyone would have a decent chance against Lucifer Scott.

Daily Kos seems to think Crist is good on the environment, at least. That's something.

He's always been good on environment, as well as civil/voting rights and labor issues.

I'm getting attack ads on Crist before YouTube videos now - paid for by Scott's 527.

Hopefully Democrats have the good sense to reject the man who was right-wing Republican two years ago.

I am no big fan of Crist, but if Scott wins re-election, he'll appoint hard line conservatives who will turn back the clock on womens rights, unions, and that is not something we can afford at this time.

This is the sort of mentality that establishment Democrats have used to neuter the left for decades. Don't fall for it.

This, meanwhile, is the sort of mentality that leads Democrats to nominate candidates like Nan Rich. If Democrats nominate Nan Rich, they will lose. It's really a simple choice here: the moderate, experienced Governor, or the far-right one. Voting to nominate a candidate who hasn't led in a poll since 2012 is essentially a vote for Scott.
