Seriously I'm addicted to pop I have drank over 100 ounces of it today. I drink like at least 300 oz a week if not more. I think I'm addicted it is so tasty. I hate diet pop and would rather drink water. I would lose like 20+ pounds if I stopped drinking it and would not feel so bad. I tried to just buy a smaller one but that didn't work the two liter is only 1.19 plus .10 deposit right now very cheap. I hate to think of how much I spend on pop. I should tell them not to sell me pop. Ugh I need to stop drinking pop. They need support groups for excessive pop drinkers. I considered switching to beer because I won't drink nearly as much like only two beers but beer is more expensive.

I went a week without pop once in high school. I went on a trip with a group from church and they bet me all a 12 pack of pop I couldn't go all week without pop, I won.

I need to just cut back, I'm starting a job on Saturday I think so I won't have as much time to sit and drink pop.

I think starting a new job will really help sine I won't have as much time to drink pop. Also I will have to get in a normal sleep schedule and pop will hurt that. I realize that switching to beer might be a bad idea but I don't drink that much alcohol.

I would try that drink.

Tomorrow I will try to only drink a 24 oz pop. It sucks that it only costs .20 cents less for the small pop vs the big one at one store. And at another store the big two liter is only a dollar plus deposit.

Ugh so I went to mcDonalds and got a large soda. Then when I was at the store I bought a two liter. I'm trying really hard not to open it but I think I will eventually give in.

Today's pop total is 99 oz, a two liter and a large McDonalds coke. yesterday was officially 107oz, so slightly better but still terrible. I think starting Saturday it will really drop off.

Cherry Coke is one of my favorite pops probably my favorite.

I have had over 30 cavities from pop drinking maybe 35. My dentist hates me.

To the contrary, your dentist probably loves you. Sounds like you're providing him with some serious income.

No she kind of lectures me a little every time I go in, I know she will next time, I can hear her in her Indian accent say " you need to cut out the pop".

No I wasn't even thinking that really.Bushie is a one of a kind well at least I hope and pray he is. I could never replace him if I wanted to.

One suggestion I can think of is maybe you could replace your desire for flavor by chewing gum instead every time you have a craving for something besides water you can't bring yourself to resist? At least it doesn't have the sugar content or caffeine. The cost is marginally cheaper too.

This is a good idea I may try this although I can chew a lot of gum. I use to chew gum and could chew 25 pieces a day easy.

I was doing good pop wise yesterday until the evening. I was at my friends and we got pizza and while I went up to pick it up I bought a two liter of cherry Coke. I drank 2/3rds of it. My friend and his fiancée drank the other third. I also had a 24oz pop earlier. I just ran to the store and bought a two liter pop to drink, maybe my friend will have some so I don't drink it all myself. I don't think I will ever stop drinking pop.

Also thank you everyone for your help and ideas.

So at church I had another 12oz of pop so my total was 77oz.

I later tried some tea, black tea I hate green tea. I have drank tea in the past with my grandma, I kind of like it I may start drinking tea. I add a little bit of honey to my tea but just a little.

Should I see a psychologist for my pop addiction. I seem to keep drinking pop I will even pour another glass knowing I shouldn't have it.

I need to go cold turkey and just stop completely. If I buy pop I will drink the whole amount. Also the store where I buy most of my pop is 400 ft from my house. I should tell them not to sell me pop. My friend knows someone who put themselves on a list that bans them from casinos in Michigan, since they have a gambling problem.

Sip. Slowly.

If I bought a two litre bottle of pop (feels weird to say that again) I would drink the whole thing and quickly for two reasons. 1) I hate it when my pop gets warm or loses carbonation and 2) I have a compulsion to "finish" things. I cannot throw away some of the food on my plate - I feel bad if I do. My solution? Don't make as big a plate of food, and don't buy two litres of pop. Instead I'll buy a 24 pack, put one in the fridge, and just drink one can.

I can't relate exactly, though, I got out of the habit of drinking pop and got into a habit of drinking tap water because when you're stoned water is miraculous. Pop makes my throat feel phlegmy and gross.

Anyway, my best advice is to just sip your drink. You will learn to enjoy it if you're persistent.

Yeah I just need to resist the temptation to buy pop. If I bought a 12 pack I would drink like 8 cans in one day.

So you cared enough to post you don't care.
This is a bizarre thread. Just don't buy it. Physically don't hand over money in exchange for "pop".

Much easier said that done, just tell a alcoholic not to hand over money for alcohol. Ok it's not quite the same but still.

So I had a cup of tea at church last night and rather enjoyed it. I took home another tea bag for today, which I just drank. Tea might be one of the possible replacements for pop. I'm going to buy some more tea at the store tomorrow. I buy black tea though I have tried green tea and I hated it.

Yet you keep posting here

Also I forgot to ask any tea recommendations I would usually buy Lipton black tea. I have no idea about other teas.

Again, the simple answer is that you need to stop buying soda and just stop drinking it entirely.

Another way to instigate that change is to think about your long-term health.  Drinking 100oz of soda a day seems like a good way to become obese and get type 2 diabetes.  What's your overall health like now?  What does your GP say about your diet/weight/blood work?

Yeah long term health is one reason why I want to stop drinking so much pop. I'm currently about 40 pounds overweight. Diabetes runs in my family and several family members have diabetes including my grandpa who is dead now but not due to diabetes, and the did live to be almost 91.

Ugh I just drank a large coke from McDonalds and really want to go buy a big two liter bottle but it is a bad bad idea. I should have bought tea at the store earlier.

I decided to run up to the grocery store to buy tea instead of pop. I bought a pack of regular tea and a box of decaf tea if I want a cup later in the evening. Decaf tea you only get half as any bags as regular for the same price. I'm currently enjoying a cup of tea instead of the pop. Although I made this cup a little to weak.

I need to stop going to McDonalds it is just so convenient, I only order a McChicken, McDouble and a large coke all from the dollar menu, although the McDouble is now 1.19.

I'm going to try to only have one pop a day.

Oh dude, I love those Mcdoubles and Mcchickens. When I was in college, my roommate and I would go load up on them after drinking loads of beer. The good old days.

Why not drink diet soda? I am killing my liver with my addiction to diet coke, but at least it's not full of empty calories.

Yeah I would rather not drink pop than drink diet it tastes bad to me. I think I will try to keep drinking the black tea. I only had a large coke from McDonalds today. If I get rid of my excessive pop drinking my unhealthy snacking and candy consumption will be the next thing I work on.

Also anyone use those water enhancer stuff that you squirt into a cup or bottle of water, like Mio. They are no calorie, I have a kook aid brand one, tropical punch, they might be a option if I crave something very sweet. I tried switching to these but I got tried of the taste and it wasn't quite like pop sweetness.

So I haven't had pop in two days now. Mostly because I have started a new job, and have to be up early. I don't plan on having any pop today. I did have two lemonades though yesterday at dinner. I may have a pop at lunch on some days since the caffeine will be gone by bedtime. I think if I cut my pop down like 75% if not more it will really help. I think I can have a drink while working too, but I will try to stick with water.
