I was Humphrey in 68.  Nixon beat me 43.37 to 42.56 while Wallace got 14.07.  The EC vote had Nixon at 264 and me at 220.  No winner.

I was playing 68. It looked like I was comfortably ahead in the EC, THEN had an 11th hour swing with a scandal in my favor, THEN.....

I learned that my work computer's flash drive apparently isn't sufficiently updated and couldn't see any results. Angry

Finally won as Bryan with something like that map, but added West Virginia to my total.

What did you do? I've got no problems beating Nixon. Pick Fred Harris and call for a halt in bombing in Vietnam as soon as it's offered. Spend time in Ohio, Illinois and California.

I won as Bryan with 255 EVs on my third try; I think it's good considering how ignorant I am about the questions for that election.

The only thing I know about silver mining is that there is a beautiful opera about a silver miner called The Ballad of Baby Doe.

edit I just played a '68 game as Wallace/Thurmond with the goal of helping Humphrey; he won by 331! Cheesy

I answered their 80 goddamn questions, and the results never displayed. Sad

I had the same problem.  Maybe a browser issue?

I did better with Wallace and 15 questions than I did with Humphrey and 80 questions.  Answering as I would answer, I managed to win 3 electoral votes (DC) and just 27% of the vote.  Fun game though...wish they had more options.  Next time I'll see if I can get Nixon to lose.

The American people of 1968 have spoken and they don't want me as President!

Mitt Romney/Marco Rubio 2012, 25 Questions:

I ran a campaign that was intended to appeal to voters on the East Coast, emphasizing moderation on healthcare, gay marriage, and immigration, but conservatism on economics and foreign policy (partially so as to not lose my base). That explains my impressive performance in the Northeast (losing Delaware by just 2 points, New York and New Jersey by 3 points, and Connecticut by 6 points), as well as my over-performance on the southern East Coast (I won Florida by 11 points!). It might also explain my relatively good showing in the southern Mountain West, but my relatively poor showing in the northern Mountain West.

One thing that I can't explain, however, is my relatively strong performance in the Midwest, which, aside from one stop in Ohio towards the end of the campaign, I totally ignored... regardless, I seem to have discovered a new winning strategy for future Republican Presidential nominees!

I won a 25 question game as Humphrey/Muskie. Bonus points?

(Recalled to the best of my ability; the game crashed on me after idling for some time.)

McKinley: 53.37% (336 EV)
Bryan: 45.59% (111 EV)
Palmer: 1.04% (0 EV)

I picked Teddy and was running mostly an a very anti-Vietnam War platform.  And I repudiated Johnson and condemned the police outside during the crackdown.  Oh, and I called for national health insurance Tongue

The thing that'll hurt you the most there is, I've found, condemning the police. Remember, you've still got to get some moderates to win lol Tongue

I absolutely struggle with Wallace in 1968 for some reason, it seems I can't do anything right.

I need to try with the Reps more, been a Dem a lot in these.

You can't win as Wallace. The objective is to prevent either Nixon or Humphrey from getting to 270 by winning as much of the South as possible. Do so by going hard right on civil rights/crime/Vietnam and moderate on economic issues.

Highest I ever got was 33 overall playing as Bryan. I had isolated McKinley to the Northeast entirely except Bryan actually won New York as well.

As McKinley, I ran to the right on most issues (with the exception of prohibition, where I answered the moderate hero "Sundays only" option), very strong on tariffs and gold, but not attacking Bryan, picking the answer choices that involved reaching out to disaffected Democrats. And I picked the options that would most help me in the South (staying on the ballot, selling out blacks, etc.), which I assume is what helped me crack the upper south. On my final day I campaigned in the plains state, which almost flipped Kansas and Nebraska, but not quite.

How did you do it? I've had such a difficult time winning a decisive victory as Obama.

Ran a center-left campaign, giving a couple bones to the base and maybe two center-right answers with 80 questions. Went on the offense campaign-wise, focusing on Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and Missouri.

Managed to comfortably win the EV as McKinley in 1896, but Bryan got a plurality of the PV.

I basically wrote off the Solid South and concentrated on winning the North.

I'm now addicted to this game. So far my best result has been Humphrey/Kennedy at ~410 electoral votes, and Humphrey/Harris at 402.
