The people of Pennsylvania stand with The President (relatively).

So what was that about PA's "Republican trend" again?

Christie leads Hillary by 4 in the state in a poll from the same pollster. That's where.

As for PA, Republicans should abandon Corbett and nominate someone else. Hell, anyone else will do. They might not win, but it's worth the old college try.

While all the others do worse than Romney. That's the strength of Christie, not a GOP trend.

Relative unknowns against Hillary are trailing her three years ahead of the election. Imagine that.

And explain this one: Christie leading Hillary isn't a sign of GOP strength, just a sign of his strength but Corbett's standing is proof that the state isn't trending Republican, not just a reflection of his weakness?

Touche. But still, a 20 point deficit is quite different from a 4 point one, even taking into account the lean of the state.

So, basically Corbett is an awful governor and is going down in flames. When someone is this bad - see, Corzine in NJ - it doesn't really reflect much of anything about the state's trend. It just means that the Governor is awful.

I basically agree,

incumbency and a state's political lean are powerful assets but they can only help you so much.

Given Corbett's number's I wouldn't be surprised if he is defeated in the primary imo.

Corbett would have trouble being re-elected Governor in a state like Tennessee or Indiana. Has nothing to do with how Pennsylvania is trending or not trending.

Much so. At this level of contempt the low approval rating has nothing to do with partisan issues. This is typical of a reeking scandal.

This, because they're more likely to win with someone else.  I'd hate to see Pennsylvania break their longtime 8-year cycle now.

Nope, he may be a worse governor in your opinion, but his numbers aren't as bad. Corbett clearly has the worst numbers of a governor currently.

Judging a Governor's performance by their approvals, lol. I hate Corbett with every fiber of my being, but even I would rather have him be my Governor than Rick Scott.

Rick Scott's a self-serving asshole who treats the state of Florida as a smaller asset of his company, but at least he didn't cover up mass molestations.

Good point. I don't think Pennsylvania is trending significantly either way though -it has been very consistent in the presidential elections of the past two decades, compared to the national average. In a 50-50 election it will still be (slightly) lean Democrat.

Do you think Corbett will be the nominee in November - surely they can't let him be nominated if these numbers don't change? And how are Gerlach/Kelly/others' chances if they run?
