I thought I would change my name, because Dean is my real life first name.

Also, about me:

I am actually 15 years old. I am in grade 10 but taking grade 12 AP math, and I am planning to take Calculus next year. Just think of your stereeotypical Asian math nerd and that's me (with some interest in politics). Also, I used to feel as if my name made me feel juvinile, until last year, when some little doctor from Vermont brought world attention, and I started to feel pround of the name my parents gave me. Of course, when the same guy went "Yeargh" I laughed out loud because it was so funny. Anyway, so let's move on.

You're 14, you shouldn't be doing calculus!

Find the area between the graph y=x^4 + 3x^3 - 4x^2 + 7x + 1 and the x-axis between x=1 and x=7.

(Dunno how nice that question is as I just thought up random numbers on the spot Cheesy)

That's just the integral of a polynomial, which is extremely easy.

A = integral(1 -> 7, (x^4 + 3x^3 - 4x^2 + 7x + 1) dx)
   = integral(1 -> 7, x^4 dx) + integral(1 -> 7, 3x^3 dx) - integral(1 -> 7, 4x^2 dx) + integral(1 -> 7, 7x dx) + integral(1 -> 7, dx)
   = 4881.0333...

Of course, the part where the calculation comes is rife with places where error might be introduced.

Oh, feel free to ask me as well if you need calculus help, Dean. Wink

Now rotate it around the x-axis Wink
