Me as Clinton on hard, with a moderate (better than 53%) result

On impossible I got the above + OH, doing better than 92%.

I roleplayed as Clinton, which means I picked moderate Booker as VP and snubbed Sanders at every opportunity. I also made it a point to never visit Wisconsin. My method of actually winning was to throw lots of mud at Trump.

I played as Wilson, weirdly enough I won Ohio by 13%, and Indiana by 4%, but lost Wisconsin and Illinois by 1% and 2%, respectively.

Woodrow Wilson/Thomas Marshall (D): 339 electoral votes, 51.4% (9,568,604)
Charles Evans Hughes/? (R): 192 electoral votes, 44.2% (8,224,842)

Tried to lose as big as possible with Wilson... and still did better than 48.1%.

429 - 102
10,209,272 (54.4%) - 7,232,062 (38.6%)

Tried picking all the most Conservative sounding options as Gerald Ford, ended up losing in a landslide.

Played as Clinton in 2016, picked Sherrod Brown for VP and took almost all the progressive options, while attacking Trump roughly 50% of the time.

Ended up with exactly Obama's 2012 map somehow.

Clinton: 332
Trump: 206

Surprisingly though, Utah was very close (39.9% Trump, 38.5% Clinton, 20.9% Johnson). Same with Montana (44.1% Trump, 41.2% Clinton, 14.8% Johnson)

Ran as Mitt Romney on normal difficulty. I chose semi-moderate answers on issues like healthcare, trade, and immigration, while going as a hard-line social conservative. It worked (better than 90.4%).

Believe in America

Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan (R) - 305 Electoral Votes, 50.5% (65,436,204)
Barack Obama/Joe Biden (D) - 233 Electoral Votes, 48.6% (63,086,062)

Ran as Clinton with Elizabeth Warren as VP, pursued rust belt strategy and narrowly won by flipping MI+PA+WI.

279 EV: Fmr. SoS Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) - 49.5%
259 EV: Businessman Donald Trump (R-NY)/??? - 47.1%

Ran as Trump this time with Scott Brown as VP, was more disciplined than IRL and hammered away at the trade issue with some fear-mongering about terror attacks thrown in for good measure. Better than 91.5%! Even won the popular vote. Surprised that VA flipped before MN, though.

216 EV: Fmr. SoS Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/??? - 47.9%
322 EV: Businessman Donald Trump (R-NY)/Fmr. Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) - 48.8%

In a similar but older game, President Elect 1988, I won as Kennedy in 1960 with this map, although I lost the popular vote:

John F. Kennedy: 313 EV/49.4%
Richard Nixon: 224 EV/50.6%

Intentionally tried to pick the most conservative options available.

Alaska decided by 48 votes.

The only way I was able to win as Romney is by giving all "moderate" answers or playing on easy mode.  They also make it impossible to win as George HW Bush unless you go aggressively negative (which is not the only reason he won IRL).

What I find impossible is winning as Ford in 76 on any difficulty other than easy. I've tried so many different answers, but nothing works.

I found Hughes 1916 even harder

I have won twice with Ford for 76 on normal (never with Hughes I believe)

It is real hard. I focus on PA, IL, and OH, and usually eke out a close win. I actually find it easier to win as Hughes.
