Re. the Battle Flag, it's Dean not Gephardt that said he wanted "guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks" to vote for him.

I'm aware RealPolitik, and I'm wondering whether that's enough to force me to oppose Dean and re-join Kerry.

Kerry is 10 times better than dean.  But gephardt is 1,000 times better than kerry.  But thats only my opinion.

I used to be a lieberman supporter.  But I found him to conservative and not attacking bush on the issues.  I was looking for someone who whould stand up to bush. I found that in dean.  I was a dean supporter in the summer.  But more and more I listened to dean I found him more and more liberal.  To liberal to win the white house.  There were 8 other candidates I could choose from. I crossed of Lieberman because he is to conservative.  I crossed of braun, sharpton, and kuchinich because they hardly have a chance of winning.  I didnt like edwards.  I put clark on hold because I didnt know were he stood.  Kerry and Gephardt were left, I decided not to support kerry because the was like dean a northeast liberal and could not win. I choose gephardt the and I agreed on most on issues.  He had a good chance of winning the white house. Vote Gephardt

I think Gephardt will slide eventually in Iowa and Dean will come back to sweep victory.  That's just my early prediction.  We'll see.

I don't know enough about American politics to be sure about this, but wouldn't it hurt Dean if he lost Iowa, considering he has been ahead? I know it would be worse for Gephart to lose, but still. Couldn't it then damage Dean's NH vote enough to make it look bad (say he wins with a much smaller margin than expected, like Muskie or Johnson did). Then he might lose his momentum, someone else could move in and a completely different picture could emerge.

It would hurt Dean, but so far there is no indication that he will lose IA, he has continued to lead recently and even strengthened his lead.

Ah, this entire discussion was slightly outdated...

I didn't look at the dates and the Swedish media don't say much about American politics, so I can't follow the polls as much as I would like too. But there you go then, forget I said anything, I won't post more comments on outdated threads.
