Amazing that we have 7 presidents in a matter of 20 years until Lincoln. Anyway, I don't really know a whole lot about him besides that he died a month into office.

HP for not having the sense to shut up and put a coat on.

Also, like that one guy said, he's another slave owner. That doesn't affect my vote, but it will affect his.

The last president who really knew what it meant to be American, long may we praise him. Rest in peace, sweet prince.

Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore were both Whig presidents. But its not like it was super important or anything.

He probably means it in more than just a sense of simple party identification. Taylor, after all, was no lifelong Whig, and his Vice President grew to be hated by his party. Taking away Tyler as well, you've got Harrison.

He seemed to have a good start both in terms of his management style (seeking to end the spoils system and even saying no to Whig favoritism) and in terms of policy. Unofrtunately he didn't last long enough to accomplish his objective.

Ironically, it seems that what his cabinet people were doing to Tyler in trying to assert themselves over him and make policy, also was attempted with Harrison.

Twenty years later, Lincoln's cabinet tried to pull the same thing.

Is this something about the Whigs in general that led them to have such power hungry cabinet members?
