10th President of the United States: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Tyler

Very interesting president. Wanted further expansion, but eventually sided with the confederate government. His flip flops and disagreements with his own party make him very odd. Overall HP.

Overall HP, but the decision to become president was a good thing to establish. All you LBJ fans wouldn't exist without it.

Nobody questioned Tyler's right to assume the presidential authority. The Constitution was clear that, with Harrison's death, it devolved to his Vice President.

The disgreement was about whether Tyler should assume the office per se, or simply serve as Acting President.

Also, had Tyler established a precedent of the Acting Presidency, you really think Acting President LBJ wouldn't win the election? Roll Eyes
