Would be interesting to see who the perpetrators are behind this "rise" in antisemitism. I think its a safe bet over 80% of antisemitic incidents in France are perpetrated by Muslims.

It looks like the FA are going to throw the book at Nicolas Anelka over his quenelle goal celebration.

Supposedly the head of the French equivalent of the ADL has stated that the quenelle is only anti-semitic when performed outside of holocaust museums and the like. Lost the article, will try to find it again.

Either way, all of this is extremely silly for a gesture. But that's European nanny-state politics for you I guess.

Would you say that if a footballer had done an actual Nazi salute?  (Anyway, at least in the UK, it isn't the state, it's the Football Association.)

Of course not, but my point is it is not a Nazi salute, so the punishment is outrageous.
