Well, to clarify things, there is absolutely no doubt in the French public opinion that this gesture is a euphemistic version of the Nazi salute, and that it has indeed a background of antisemitism. However, as people nowadays are morons, the salute is also made by people that claim they are only using it against "the System", in a revolted manner.
They fail to see that "the System" is an utterly extreme-right-wing concept to begin with, that opposition to "the System" without specifying said system is never apolitical, and they also fail to see how long a way Dieudonné (it's M'bala M'bala, actually) has come for the last ten years.
One of his children has Jean-Marie Le Pen as godfather for fukc's sake. He's been openly antisemitic while claiming to be "anti-Zionist" for a number of years now. How can one truly believe his gesture doesn't have any relation with the Nazi salute that it basically becomes just if you care to raise your arm a bit ?
Oh and also
Anti-Semitism is on the rise in France as well as other European countries so this doesn't surprise me at all.
No.
