Interestingly enough, all of the Presidents are directly related to each other except one, and it's not the one you'd think would be unrelated (it's Martin Van Buren).

Doesn't that actually make sense, given that he was (I presume) of Dutch descent, whilst simultaneously having been born so early in the history of the United States.

Anyway, fairly mixed opinion of Taylor, probably slightly lean HP.

Well yeah it makes sense (for the reasons you mention), but everybody is going to assume Obama is the one that isn't related to the rest.

Oh and slightly lean FF for me.

Do you remember who their common ancestor was?

They dont have one ancestor that they all share. They are just all related to each somehow.

And looking at both of their records, Taylor actually seems to be more conservative than Madison (in today's meanings) Heck, Madison was pretty much a liberal, while Taylor seemed privately more conservative.

In general, I view the Whigs negatively. Zachary Taylor doesn't really  make much of an exception. Though I will say his stand against protectionist tariffs make him one of the better Whigs.

King John of England was their common ancestor (I know it's a Daily Mail link, but it shows up in other places as well).

He was willing to fight for the union, even hanging traitors if need be, including Jeff Davis.

FF. Would have loved to see what he could have done, he may have been in charge of the Civil War if it got very bad.

He was against the expansion of slavery, unlike Fillmore.

(Which is strange because Taylor owned slaves and Fillmore did not)

I'll say FF, but there were some HP elements about him, such as owning slaves.
