Christie leading GOP field on the first night of our North Carolina poll as well.

Chris Christie leading the GOP field in New Hampshire on first night of our poll, doing better there than he was in September.

About 70% of NH Republicans saying their opinion of Christie no different than at start of week, 15% saying more positive, 15% more negative.

Going to take a lot more than 36 hours to assess fallout of all this, but at least outside NJ not seeing too much damage for Christie yet.

It does make sense that these rurals wouldn't care what he did to some nasty New Jerseyites.  (nasty as in from their point of view, not mine)

Is there any reason to expect that he would see a significant decrease in base support from being complicit in denying access to medical care, education, and employment?

Republicans will be the last demographic to abandon Christie, not the first.

And marriage, with all the benefits that go with it.

Yes, but that wasn't really related to the unannounced bridge closure. Tongue

PPP also said Akin was unharmed by the legitimate rape comment.

Let's see what the polls say in a week or two.

Republicans aren't going to be dissatisfied with Christie playing a political game involving a Democrat, in fact, it's a plus for him. As far as crossover votes go, that's a different story and we have to see how those numbers play out.

Far too early. Though it has been going on for a while, the world at large has only become aware of the scandal some 48 hours ago. There simply has been no time for the news to get internalized by the time they were polling (within 24 hours of the news breaking or less?). Give it another couple days to a week.

Ag's post is the correct one. No one cares about what's happening to Christie now. The importance of the story is the change in media perceptions/presentations of him.

Like I said, the impact probably won't be felt for 2-4 weeks.
