Let's say Jindal beats Blanco in one of the closest elections in Louisiana history, he starts his governorship with high approval ratings at 64% with accomplishments such as ethics reform, reforms in education, etc., then suddenly in 2005, Hurricane Katrina strikes the Pelican State : causing deaths of thousands of Louisianans including those from New Orleans.

Majority of folks get pissed at Jindal, Nagin and Bush 43 for the disastrous response and as a result, Jindal's approval ratings take a fast nosedive: 31 % of Louisianans approve of his job performance.

He decides to seek reelection in 2007, but who would the Democrats have turned to in running against him: Blanco  or former U.S. Senator John Breaux (D-LA) ?

Mitch Landrieu wins reelection as Lieutenant Governor in another landslide victory (this time, getting 61%).

How do y'all think Jindal would have fared against Blanco in a rematch or against Breaux ?

Landslide Democratic victory. I actually think Democrats would turn to Mitch or even an up-and-comer like Cazayoux, not Blanco or Breaux. Vitter would probably retire in 2010 so he could run against the winner in 2011, where he'd stomp.

Good chance he runs for President in 2012, I think.
