The Ides of March II - A Roman Republic Game:

Good day, ladies and gentlemen. A few months ago I tried to simulate the death of the Roman Republic with a game that would set players against each other in the backstabbing of Roman politics after the death of Julius Caesar. While I was very satisfied with the first turn of the game, it died out because of a lack of players, as a game like this needed at least four active players. That said, Cassius suggested to restart the game and I'm more than happy to give this a second try! We will use the same scenario as before (44 BC), and two of the old players are already on board (Dr Cynic and IBDD - I also sent a message to Afleitch). I haven't decided if we are going to play the first turn again, but I think it's better to have a full restart.

This thread will serve to let players join for a couple of days so I can start the actual game on Sunday/Monday. The rules are basically the same as the old game, but I will introduce a few changes to make it more interactive and to encourage players from building relationships and factions. While we already have three players (four if you count me, I hope we will be able to have a strong start with five or six players. More are welcome to join at any point in the game, though, and fictional characters are to be accepted as well (provided that they are realistic enough). I realize that making this kind of game work is very complicated, but I think this could work very well right now.

Let the games begin!

List of Current Players:

LumineVonReuental - Quintus Valerius Sapiens and NPC's
Cassius - Gaius Cassius Longinus and Marcus Junius Brutus
IBDD - Marcus Antonius (or Mark Antony)
Dr Cynic - Gaius Octavius Thurinus

Still waiting for Afleitch to confirm if he wants to return, but I hope to be able to start the game in a few hours.

Well, looks like we will only have three players (and Cassius will play Brutus as well). Thus, instead of restarting I would like to continue the game from where we left, and I messaged Cassius to see what he thinks. Hopefully he will answer soon, but the game restarts tomorrow.

For future reference, when giving you our moves for the round, I like to keep them as short as possible, while addressing everything (for your sanity as well as my own). Is there a uniform way though that you want us to carry our turns out?

Not really, but I think your style suits the game just fine. I feel it is a lot better if the players feel free to seek how to address the crises and movement, which is why I decided not to have a penalty or a bonus for the turns as long as they do address the asked moves. I'm not sure if Cassius wishes to do the same as you and IBDD, but you're doing great so far!
