How I'd label myself: more-or-less a social democrat, broadly left-wing on most issues

Civil Rights
- Strongly supportive of civil rights (including the rights of indigenous people, LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, etc.)
- think Canada has a responsibility for respecting & not infringing upon the rights of First Nations people
- Against prejudice & discrimination, including against Jews, East Asians & other groups where discrimination against them isn't always accounted for

Economics
- strongly support labour unions and think they are both important & necessary for a functioning society and the welfare of employees
- against income inequality; support regulation of business, anti-trust laws and breaking up monopolies/oligopolies so smaller businesses have a chance to succeed and customers are protected from exploitation
- support (when or if possible) taking away offshore tax havens to have more money recirculate into the economy
- broadly support free trade, and think it's significantly better compared to protectionism, but want the well-beings of non-rich people to be taken into account and not brushed aside in favour of billionaires or multinational corporations

Environment
- climate change is necessary to grapple with and is far too important for anyone to ignore
- rich countries must do everything in their power in order to reduce their carbon footprints & stop it from getting worse than it already is, and to not shift the blame onto poorer countries that do not contribute anywhere close to the amount of CO2; no exceptions

Healthcare
- support universal healthcare & government funding of it; business interests should not take precedence over the health & well-beings of other people

Criminal Justice
- support abolishing the death penalty & put more effort into rehabilitating criminals

Drugs
- support ending the war on drugs across the world
- support either legalizing or decriminalizing drug possession
- at the same time, support the regulation of drug companies that seek to make a profit off of getting people fatally addicted to drugs
- strongly in favour of rehabilitating people with drug addictions instead of placing them in jail

On Immigration, Refugees & Displaced People
- in full support of bringing in refugees & people who have been displaced from their homes into the country
- supportive of immigration regardless of which parts of the world they come from
- against rhetoric that seeks to demonize & stoke xenophobic fears over immigrants

Elections
- think they are important & should exist
- against first-past-the-post (FPTP) voting and more in favour of voting systems that can more properly represent the interests of more than two voting blocs

Governance
- against authoritarian governance (regardless of the self-declared ideology of the authoritarians in question)
- hard stance against fascism & governments with fascist tendencies
- complicated feelings on populism; on one hand, I think it's important and even necessary to rally support, but am against less inclusive versions of populism that discriminate against (real or perceived) foreigners or disadvantaged groups
- think political alliances are an important part of running an effective government & think working on your own is rarely effective without the support of others; this should not, however, lead to the civil rights of others being compromised

International Relations
- anti-war 99 times out of 100 (only support war if it is used in genuine self-defense against a more powerful country with imminent plans to invade & to never attack first or preemptively invade, especially not against countries that do not pose any real threat to us)
- think the United Nations is, despite it's notable flaws, a necessary and important institution (though still frustrated with how often countries with veto powers often stifle the decision-making process)
- against corporate & political exploitation of poor countries

I'm a very conservative person, but I am open to voting Democrat if the Republican candidate turns me off for some reason. I have most of the generic Republican beliefs when it comes to the economy, but I'm especially conservative on some social issues. I strongly oppose things like legalizing recreational marijuana and support for the trans community. I think we've gotten way too permissive and libertarian as a society and we let far too many things go un-checked in the name of unlimited individual autonomy. And more often than not I will judge my votes and endorsements on those kinds of issues. I know that my views are most likely not all that popular here, but that's fine. I don't have to agree with you to be a civil human being. And I hope the same goes for all of you. Thanks!

Not sure what label I'd apply, but probably somewhere on the left.

Social Policy

Abortion: family and healthcare decision, not something for the government to have an opinion on.
LGBT: consenting adults have the right to marry, responsible adults have the right to adopt, and you have the right to your identity as long as it's not harming anyone.
Drugs: Decriminalise everything, treat addiction rather than slapping a criminal record on more people. Legalize marijuana and any other more minor drugs for recreational use. Remove prescription requirements for certain items (such as glasses) and non-addictive treatment drugs (statins as an example.)
Slavery reparations: would depend on how we go about it, though I don't have any specific ideas in mind.
Stem Cell Research: support
Death Penalty: increasingly opposed given the room for error, though should still be applicable to mass shootings and large scale acts of terrorism (I don't support using it simply for all terrorism charges as we'll then have the charges being used just to get the death penalty)
Criminal justice reform: eliminate mandatory minimum sentencing and harsh sentences for non-violent offenses. Eliminate civil asset forfeiture
Police reform: replace live rounds with rubber bullets for standard officers (this excludes SWAT and such) so people don't pay for an officer's mistake or misjudgement with their lives, require body cams to be on at all times and make it a crime to turn them off
Gun control: I support banning assault weapons but don't see how it would be enforced from a practical standpoint; create national instant background system tied to your photo ID--similar to drivers license, your ID will carry a code or some sort of labeling of whether you're allowed to purchase, or if you might be moderate risk which would be left up to the seller's discretion. Ban person to person sales
Affirmative Action: no stance as it's too vague an issue anymore to determine one.
Prostitution: Decriminalize
Euthanasia: legal, provided you're declared of sound mind, especially in instances of terminal illness or complete debilitation.
Prostitution: legal but heavily monitored to prevent human trafficking
Immigration: set up pathway to citizenship, deport violent offenders, make DACA law.

Economic Issues

Minimum Wage: gradual increase to $15 as too sudden a change may have unknown, unintended consequences. Extend to restaurants and service industry and ban tipping practices as we know them.
Welfare: increase spending, provide based on an individual's situation rather than a specified poverty line which people can fall just outside of and still need assistance.
Right-to-Work: I'd support a constitutional amendment granting the right of workers to organize.
Taxation: progressive income tax. Eliminate tax loopholes that result in multibillion dollar corporations receiving more than they pay out.
Healthcare: treat as a utility--insurers, care providers, and pharmaceuticals can remain private but must face strict caps on what they can charge, from a regulatory board who takes everything into account when setting costs. Institute public option as well as this still won't guarantee the lowest earners would otherwise afford insurance. Opposed to M4A because it's healthcare ransom waiting to happen.
Social Security: increase spending to continue viability
Trade: Oppose tariffs and allow healthy competition from foreign companies to keep prices low. No trade with companies using less than humane labor practices. Ban domestic  companies from producing US-sold goods overseas. Require at least half of international companies' goods to be produced here (something already done for example in the auto industry)
Education: increase funding, institute national standard for education, abolish standardized tests as a means to determine funding, institute free lunch
Balanced Budget Amendment: Against
Transportation: increase in spending, create a national passenger rail network with non-repealable minimums of funding but there would be a fare to assist with this, for example receive an electronic card that measures how many stops you pass, and pay the corresponding fare once you exit. Abolish AMTRAK since it's nothing more than a tax-funded for profit corporation.
Infrastructure: upgrade roads and bridges where needed

Foreign Policy and National Security

Increased UN involvement. End all foreign military aide and arms sales.
Abolish warrantless domestic surveillance
Withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan but maintain presence of advisors if those countries so desire.
Move Okinawa Marine base elsewhere.
Constitutional amendment guaranteeing right to privacy (and likewise banning the collecting, use, and sale of personal information without your explicit consent prior)
Cut the military budget in half (this could help fund infrastructure and transit)
Constitutional amendment requiring all military endeavors that are not prompted by a formal declaration of war, or military attack within US borders, to be approved not by congress but by national referendum and including only voters under 30 (as they'll be the ones sent to die). This must also be renewed annually by the same set of voters.
End the practise of being the global police force.

Climate and Environment

Invest in green energy of all varieties
Tax breaks for homes with solar panels
Institute corporate emissions cap (since carbon tax prevents nothing) and strengthen EPA's ability to go after large scale polluters
Increased spending to NOAA and forestry service, invest in upgrading technology used in weather forecasting and fire monitoring and prevention
Rejoin Paris Accord

Electoral reform

Abolish electoral college, and set up a national registration system where you are automatically removed from the voter rolls once you move and change your address, or when you die and your death certificate is issued. No removal of voters under any other circumstances.
Eliminate constituency voting and institute a proportional system, increase the House to 1000 seats, with the number of seats per state based on percentage of the population every census (similar to how house seats are divied up)
Abolish the current primary system and put each candidate running on a single national ballot as individual yes/no referendums, where the top two vote-getters move onto the general election. An alternative is to require the parties to run their respective primaries this way.
Voter ID required to vote, but also institute a free national ID system (this would be separate from your drivers license system which would function as it currently does)
Mandate voting in the primary system as you're not choosing between a slate of bad candidates--if you hate everybody just vote no for everybody.
Automatic voter registration once you turn 18
Eliminate money from politics--provide free air time for all candidates at a determined time each week
Puerto Rico and DC statehood, pending binding referendums.

I'm forgetting some things I had thought of earlier so this will probably be updated.

Not quite a "moderate", but definitely a mainstream conservative. Just wanted to comment on this to show people can still be conservative without being aggressively conservative.

Social Policy:

Abortion: 12 week ban. Exception for the health of the mother.
Same Sex Marriage: Fine with this, as well as adoption.
Marijuana: Legalize medicinal use only, but decriminalize.
Stem Cell Research: Support, private and heavily regulated.
Death Penalty: Support for murderers, pedophiles, terrorists, foreign spies.
Gun control: Support with no limitations.
Affirmative Action: Replace race-based affirmative action with a socioeconomic alternative.
Prostitution: Keep it illegal.
Euthanasia: Keep it illegal.

Economic Issues:

Minimum Wage: Raise to $15 an hour nationally with a hybrid wage subsidies system.
Welfare: Do not offer welfare to immigrants or non-citizens. Support workfare and drug testing.
Right-to-Work: Support. I think unions are particularly corrupt, but am sympathetic to members (particularly in trades, though oppose service unions). Would rather a pro worker department of labor.
Taxation: Support working and middle class tax cuts. Tax capital gains as ordinary income. Progressive bracketing increasing taxes on upper middle class and wealthy. Low corporate taxes, ban buybacks, create repatriation holiday. Implement BAT and tax remittances.
Healthcare: Lower medicare age to 55. Subsidize high risk pools. Regulate drug pricing.
Social Security: Do not privatize.
Trade: Oppose free trade. Support permanent tariffs. Do not enter/withdraw from multilateral trade agreements. Subsidize agriculture/energy/manufacturing sectors.
Education: Eliminate pre-high school "social studies" classes and foreign language education. Start computer science education earlier, more STEM class time, and create more math/science competitions. Free trade school and free college for all kids in households <150k.
Balanced Budget Amendment: Support in theory, but not a priority of mine.

Foreign Policy and National Security:

Afghanistan: Leave fully and immediately.
Iraq: Leave fully and immediately.
Iran: Open talks without preconditions.
Syria: Leave fully and immediately.
Somalia: Leave fully and immediately.
Cuba: Open talks without preconditions.
North Korea: Open talks without preconditions.
Russia: Open talks without preconditions.
China: Full trade war and permanent tariffs. Oppose TPP.
NATO: Come up with a 10-year exit plan.
Military Spending: Increase funding, rebuild navy, turn military into more of a research and exploration organization (prioritize mapping the ocean floors). Completely eliminate foreign aid.
PATRIOT Act: Only allow gathering spying non-citizens.
NSA Spying: Eliminate the NSA.
Palestine: Do not recognize.
Israel: No policy positions. I don't support US military action for Israeli or Saudi interests.
Immigration: Zero net migration, eliminate birthright citizenship, mandatory e-verify, end DACA, end H-1B deport aliens. Do not accept any refugees.
Guantanamo Bay: Keep it open, send felon illegals there.

Environment:

Climate Change: Real, but overstated. Oppose environmental legislation.
Green Energy: Solutions should not cut any jobs or displace any workers.
Keystone XL Pipeline: Build this and more. Energy independence improves national security.

Electoral Reform:

Electoral College: Support. More states with 4-5 EVs should go the ME/NE route.
Gerrymandering: Leave up to states.
Term limits: Support, particularly for the House.
Voter ID: Make it free and mandatory.
Compulsory Voting: No, but all states should have "none of the above" on the ballot so it can be tracked.
Voter Registration: Yes. Semi-closed primaries for all states (independents can vote in either primary).
Statehood: Puerto Rico should not be a state. Neither should Alaska or Hawaii. Puts us in a tough position if US properties outside of the contiguous mainland is attacked.

Please run for president.

Looks like I haven't done one since 2018. Time for a bit of an update I guess.

Overall: left, not a giant fan of restrictive ideological labels

Social Policy
Abortion: conflicted
Same-Sex Marriage: I support same sex marriage as someone who may one day get same sex married.
Drugs: Legalize marijuana, LSD, mushrooms, etc. And cocaine. No limits on possession amount either. Decriminalize other drugs (nobody should be in prison for drug possession) but crack down on cartels.
Alcohol: lower the drinking age to 18
Death Penalty: Now I'm not opposed for certain people but those circumstances are pretty rare. I also don't really trust the gov with the power to kill its own people.
Gun Control: Against most restrictions besides base-level (background checks). Opposed to weapons bans or limits on number you can own.
Affirmative Action: not completely against but should be phased out eventually
Euthanasia: can't say I'm a huge fan, violates doctor's responsibility
Prostitution: legal prostitution is safer than illegal prostitution, still it's exploitative
Pornography: should be legal
Immigration: Give amnesty and citizenship to everyone here illegally. Also make immigration an easier process in general. Wages should be fair for all immigrants as well.
Criminal justice: instead of mandatory minimums we should have pretty low maximum sentences, also take a lot of crimes off felony and make them misdemeanor as well as let felons vote. Prison conditions should also be improved and prisoners should be paid a fair wage if they work. Also end private prisons.
Surveillance: get rid of most outdoor security cameras, ban red light cameras, end government surveillance of private citizens and repeal the Patriot Act
Police: generally have too much power, they shouldn't be militarized. When you walk by a police officer you should be able to feel safe and not afraid even if you've done nothing wrong and sadly afraid is what too many people experience. Low level crimes shouldn't be strongly enforced as this usually just serves to mess up people's lives in the future.

Economic Policy
Minimum Wage: Raise to $15 and raise it periodically afterwards
Right-to-Work: against
Tax Rates: should be very high for the richest and very low for the poorest
Healthcare: make all health services free and cover everybody
Social Security: keep as is
Trade: oppose outsourcing, only sign trade deals that have worker protections and fair wages and don't cost American jobs
Environment: transition to nuclear/renewable energy
Education: reform the school system so it's actually useful, put more focus on college as not the only option but make it free for those who choose to go
Transit: light rail for all urban areas, high speed rail linking cities too
Nationalization: nationalize transit and energy companies as well as Amazon and some others

Foreign Policy
Foreign intervention: I'm not against US intervention. In fact I support it when it's done smartly and against people I don't like. But sadly in our past one or both of the two have almost universally been true. I wouldn't exactly be against a coup against Bolsonaro or similar idiots if it had a good chance of succeeding but it would also be a pretty dumb move and war should always be avoided.
Russia: not a Russia fan but people acting like they're the bigger problem vs. China are idiots
China: you can add Xi Jinping to the "similar idiots" from a couple questions up
Israel: it's a sh*tshow and always will be, don't really care
NATO: don't care
UN: don't care
Defense budget: cut it and focus it on health/education

Electoral Reform
Electoral College: get rid of it, put in RCV. Get rid of the delegate system for primaries too.
Gerrymandering: expand the size of the House, abolish the Senate, and draw unbiased districts
Term limits: against for everything
Voter ID: just have vote by mail
Voter registration: Automatic registration
Voting age: probably lower to 16 but also decrease the age to run for president/any other office
Mandatory voting: not a bad idea but I'd rather do some type of incentive to vote and increase turnout
Statehood: admit DC and every territory as a state
Supreme Court: all federal judges should be appointed for 10 years instead of for life, also the power of the courts should be dramatically decreased. It's ridiculous that some random judge has the power to block an entire law from being implemented.

Overall: Progressive left.

Social Policy
Abortion: Support, but increase things like sex education to reduce the amount of abortions.
Same-Sex Marriage: Strongly support.
Drugs: Legalize marijuana and decriminalize most others.
Alcohol: Don't care
Death Penalty: Opposed
Gun Control: Strongly support red flag laws and fixing loopholes that make it easier to get illegal guns. While I think an assault weapons ban would also be helpful, since there's no real need for them in hunting, I'm more focused on handguns, which are the cause of more deaths
Affirmative Action: Support as long as its needed
Euthanasia: Support, but only if there absolutely no other option
Prostitution: Undecided. Legal prostitution is safer, but there should be restrictions that discourage it as a long-term job
Pornography: keep legal, except for child porn
Immigration: Give undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship and make legal immigration easier. At the same time, update technology for processing migrants and enforcing borders. Drones etc.
Criminal justice: End private prisons. There should be no cash incentive to incarcerate people. Also end mandatory minimums
Surveillance: Opposed to unauthorized surveillance. Law enforcement must get a fisa warrant to legally intrude on someone's life.
Police: Demilitarize and encourage community outreach.
Economic Policy
Minimum Wage: Raise to $15 and adjust for inflation over time
Right-to-Work: Opposed
Tax Rates: Increase tax rates on the very rich back to pre-Reagan levels. Decrease rates for the lower and middle classes
Healthcare: Universal healthcare for as many people as possible. Medicare-for-all is optimal, but let people keep their private insurance if they really want it
Social Security: protect and expand
Trade: Pro-fair trade. Punish companies that outsource with higher taxes.
Environment: Expand renewable energy. Nuclear energy is fine as a transition energy, but it must have sound restrictions on where nuclear waste can be disposed of. Ban fracking and offshore drilling
Education: Fix the system so students are more prepared for college and careers. Make Community College free.
Transit: expand light rail in urban metros. Create high-speed rail to link cities.
Nationalization: Nationalize the energy sector

Foreign Policy
Foreign intervention: Generally opposed to regime change, as it usually causes more problems than it fixes. However, keep autocrats who slaughter their own people like Assad and Gaddafi on notice. The first step towards any conflict should be diplomacy.
Russia: Continue sanctions and sending aid to eastern European countries that are in conflict with Russia such as Ukraine. Update our cyber infrastructure so it isn't so vulnerable to cyber attacks
China: China has a long-term plan (maybe even a 100-year plan) to become the dominant world superpower and possibly even become an aggressor. Keep their sphere of influence in check with diplomacy and some trade restrictions
Israel: Israel is an ally, but Netanyahu is a demagogue and should not be appeased. Support a 2-state solution
NATO: Support, but make sure other members pay their dues.
UN: Keep as is
Defense budget: Reduce spending

Electoral Reform
Electoral College: move to a popular vote system with RCV.
Gerrymandering: Increase size of the house and implement bipartisan commissions to drawn districts.
Term limits: Opposed to, except for executive offices.
Voter ID: Opposed. ID can have unintended (or intended) effects on voter turnout. Expand vote by mail.
Voter registration: Automatic registration
Voting age: Keep as is
Mandatory voting: Not a bad idea on paper, but I'd rather have more incentives for voting.
Statehood: admit DC and every territory as a state
Supreme Court: Keep the number of justices as is, but implement something like an 18-20 year term limit. Reduce the judiciary's power so it can't be so easy to use as a partisan actor. Judges are supposed to be referees, not players.

Overall: Neoliberalism/Social liberalism

Social Policy
Abortion: Pro-choice
Same-Sex Marriage: Support
Drugs: Opposed to decriminalization, however criminal penalties should only be pursued for hard drugs, soft drugs should result in rehabilitation treatment
Alcohol: A blanket temperance law is ill-advised, but create a government program to advocate for temperance and perhaps enforce curfews on bars, such as prohibiting entry into a bar during rush hour
Death Penalty: Support, but only in heinous cases like terrorists and serial killers, with undeniable proof
Gun Control: Overturn D.C. v Heller and pass a nationwide handgun ban, also pass an assault weapons ban, and create a national firearms registry, people with a criminal charge are forbidden from firearm ownership as are those on terrorist watch lists, expand background checks
Affirmative Action: Strongly support
Euthanasia: Opposed
Prostitution: Make it illegal and criminally charge men who exploit women
Pornography: Outlaw it and break up porn companies
Immigration: Liberalize our immigration laws, make it easier to obtain asylum, but don't create open borders, also don't separate parents from children
Criminal justice: Favor some reform, for instance require police and prison guards to undergo racial awareness training and fire those who can't display adequate racial impartiality
Surveillance: Favor it and favor the PATRIOT Act
Police: Require them to under racial awareness training and fire those who show racial bias
Economic Policy
Minimum Wage: Raise it to $12
Right-to-Work: Opposed and opposed to similar union-breaking methods
Tax Rates: Raise taxes on the wealthy, but restore the state and local tax deductions for high tax area, also raise the capital gains tax and payroll tax
Healthcare: Create a public option based on Medicare and allow those who want to opt-in to it, to opt-in and those who don't keep their plan
Social Security: Raise the payroll tax to keep the program solvent and expand benefits
Trade: Pro-free trade
Environment: Support a carbon tax, but also phase out fossil fuels within 10 years, as well as create subsidies and alternatives for wind, hydroelectric, hydrothermal, and solar companies
Education: Support the status quo mostly, except expand Common Core across the country, also increase pay for teachers and funding for schools
Transit: Support more express toll lanes as well as greater investment in infrastructure in general

Foreign Policy
Foreign intervention: Lean interventionist, however favor spreading liberal values more than anything. Generally support intervention, unless the country in question has nuclear weapons
Russia: Impose heavy sanctions on Russia
Israel: Support two state solution, but the U.S. should still maintain its support for Israel
NATO: Strongly support
UN: Increase involvement
Defense budget: Keep as is

Electoral Reform
Electoral College: Move to reform gradually, and eventually abolish it
Gerrymandering: Create commissions to draw districts, limit splitting counties and require COIs to be kept together, if possible
Term limits: Opposed, except for executive offices.
Voter ID: Opposed, can lead to voter suppression
Voter registration: Automatic registration
Voting age: Status quo
Mandatory voting: Opposed
Statehood: DC and Puerto Rico should be admitted as states
Supreme Court: In addition to requiring the Senate to confirm, create a nonpartisan panel of 7-8 people, of whom 2/3 must vote in favor, for a justice to be confirmed (leads to the nomination of more moderate justices and a less polarized court)

Moderate, leaning a little bit to the right, more so on economic issues.

Most political issues are not especially important to me, but I am very, VERY concerned about how the Supreme Court has been interpreting the 14th Amendment. What I want from the legislative branch of the federal and state governments is a constitutional amendment that rewrites the second sentence of the 14th Amendment in order to make its meaning narrower and clearer. What I want from the President is to appoint only the most objective interpreters of law that can be found anywhere in the country -- judges like Oliver Wendell Holmes, Learned Hand, and Hugo Black.

I don't think I have ever done this, so this should be fun

Social Policy:

Abortion: Pro-choice up to the 3rd-4th month (inclusive). Beyond that allow it only in cases of rape, danger to the mother's health or congenital diseases
Same Sex Marriage: Allow, with equal rights to heterosexual marriage
Marijuana: Legalize for recreational use
Stem Cell Research: Support
Death Penalty: Abolish. Not only that, but abolish life imprisonment without parole as well.
Gun control: By American standards I am extremely pro-Gun control, though for Spanish standards I just support keeping our current laws Tongue
Affirmative Action: Abolish
Prostitution: Keep it illegal
Euthanasia: Legalize in cases where the ill person has a 0% chance of recovery and is suffering and is also able of giving consent or has previously given consent as part of their final will

Economic Issues:

Minimum Wage: Raise gradually to 1000 €/month
Welfare: I would streamline and simplify welfare, but keep it at its current levels if that makes any sense
Right-to-Work: Not really applicable in Europe, but I am a strong supporter of unions. They are often incompetent, but that only means they need to get better at doing their actual job and strengthened, not weakened
Taxation: Increase income tax but reduce VAT
Healthcare: Public and socialized medicine (ie the government owns most hospitals, not unlike the British NHS)
Social Security: Keep it public, but make deep-reaching reforms so it is sustainable in the future.
Trade: In favour of free trade and opposed to tariffs, but not all countries are worthy of free trade in the first place. It should be used either as a geopolitical tool or with countries that have actually decent working standards
Education: Keep it as part of the autonomous communities.
Balanced Budget Amendment: Support the balanced budget amendment from 2011, though it does not seem to have done much anyways.

Foreign Policy and National Security:

Afghanistan: Stay
Iraq: Leave
Iran: Do not get in in the first place
Syria: Leave
Cuba: Lift sanctions and normalize relations. Regime change in Cuba is a lost cause, so best to have them as something like China or really most other dictatorships
Military Spending: I want military spending increased in Spain (literally the NATO country with the least expenses other than Luxembourg)
Palestine: Do not recognize, but actively lobby for a 2 state solution
Israel: Support on the 1967? borders; oppose annexation of the West Bank; lobby for a 2 state solution
Immigration: Be very harsh against illegal immigrants, with them deported ASAP, but mantain current levels of legal immigration. Immigration is also preferrable from EU countries and Latin America than from Africa or the Middle East.

Environment:

Climate Change: It is very obviously real and man-made and we should do a lot more to fight it.
Green Energy: Strongly support; it is a travesty that Germany of all countries has more solar than us
Nuclear Energy: Expand and maintain the old nuclear power plants from like the 60s open as long as they are safe to operate.

Electoral Reform:

I personally support a 2 round, single memeber districts system like France uses, but that is 100% never passing here.

As a compromise, I would switch Congress from being elected by province to being elected by autonomous community; and switch the Senate to also be elected by autonomous community in such a way where 1 community = X senators.

Also expand the powers of the Senate if that reform is done, but don't do it if it keeps the current electoral system.

Term limits: No; but I do support them in presidential systems for the president. They just don't make sense for parliamentary democracies, though I would not mind if Spain became a presidential republic
Voter ID: Yes
Compulsory Voting: Yes
Voter Registration: Should be automatic

Also, firmly opposed to Catalan independence, though I do support the government negotiating with the Catalans, I just don't know what concessions could be made at this point since they seem to be "independence or bust"

My views are a huge mixed bag. Hence, why I’m an independent or as I like to call it “politically homeless”

Social Policy:

Abortion: Pro-life. To quote Hubert Humphrey, “I’m not for it.” The Born Alive Act needs to pass ASAP
Same-sex marriage: LGBT rights are human rights. Marriage inequality is unconstitutional. It’s been the law of the land for 5 years. Don’t think it should be considered an issue anymore.
Marijuana: Fully legalize (medicinal and recreational), tax and regulate it
Stem Cell Research: Support, except for embryonic
Death Penalty: Oppose (consider myself whole-life)
Gun control: Generally pro second amendment but I support background checks such as the no-fly rule. Strongly oppose the idea of an assault weapons buyback (a la Beto O’Rourke) or a gun registry. I would probably get a low B rating from the NRA if I was in office.
Affirmative Action: It depends. I definitely support equal opportunity legislation, but in some cases it can go to far.
Prostitution: Personally oppose and will never partake in it, but it should be legal
Euthanasia: Oppose (again consider myself whole-life)

Economic Issues:

Minimum Wage: I think $15 is a reasonable nationwide minimum wage
Welfare: Support. It helps lift people out of poverty. It shouldn’t be abused though. Strongly oppose drug testing recipients.
Right-to-Work: Definitely consider myself pro-union. Organized labor has done a lot for our country (i.e. 8 hour workday, etc.) and certain professions must be unionized in my opinion (police, fire, service employees). With this being said, I draw the line when some (a minority) of unions bully/coerce employees or buy elections like corporations.
Taxation: Our current system is ok for the most part. I mainly oppose raising taxes (unless it’s needed) but I oppose the unnecessarily cutting taxes for the rich which every GOP president seems to do. I love that my state (Florida) has no state income tax. I have always strongly opposed the estate/death tax.
Healthcare: I consider myself a moderate on this issue. I oppose federal single-payer, it won’t work in the US. If a state wants to pass it (like what Newsom was trying to do in CA), it’s a different story. I support a public/private option to a degree but the public option should be reserved especially for people who can’t afford private insurance, disabled and elderly. I oppose providers discriminating against people for pre-existing conditions. When people ask me if it’s a human right I say yes - but that doesn’t mean single payer is the only option.
Social Security: I strongly support it in its present form. I’m against privatizing it or raising the retirement age.
Trade: I’m somewhere between the free trade and fair trade position. I support some but not all tariffs. Human rights should be a priority in US trade policy. I oppose NAFTA and the TPP.
Education: I am strongly pro charter schools and school choice/vouchers. I think the Department of Ed should be abolished or consolidated into HHS.
Balanced Budget Amendment: Strongly support. It is absolutely necessary and I’ve always been puzzled why the US Constitution doesn’t have one but almost all state constitutions do. I am deficit hawk.

Foreign Policy and National Security:

Afghanistan: Leave
Iraq: Leave
Iran: Please, lets not go to war with them
Syria: Leave
Cuba: Lift the embargo.
Military Spending: Decrease
Israel/Palestine: Pro-Israel
Immigration: I support immigration reform, the DREAM Act and DACA. I think there should be an easier pathway to legal status and ultimately citizenship. To quote Logic, “f*** the wall.” We need bridges not a wall. Trump’s immigration policy is terrible, dehumanizing and disgusting (I.e. children in cages). With this being said I do not by any means support open borders. Border security is necessary and ICE, while it should be reformed, should absolutely not be abolished. I oppose the idea of “sanctuary cities” and I would’ve voted for Kate’s Law. I completely opposed Trump’s travel/Muslim ban.

Environment:

Climate Change: Obviously it’s a huge problem, and I have great respect for young people like Greta Thunberg who bring awareness to it. I think it’s sad that a good portion of politicians don’t think it’s real, let alone manmade. While I strongly oppose Carbon Taxes the Green New Deal (too extreme and it costs way more than it will help), the government does have an obligation in my opinion to help fight climate change.
Green Energy: Support. Solar is the future.
Nuclear Energy: Support. Safety is key though.

Electoral Reform: We need a lot of it. Gerrymandering needs to be outlawed/declared unconstitutional by the SCOTUS for starters. States should be in charge of their congressional electoral system but I would like to see more ranked choice voting (like in Maine). I would be for multi-member districts and proportional representation, but this would never happen in the duopoly we live in.
Term limits: Strongly support. Politics should be a service not a career. President should stay at 2 4-year terms. Congress should be a max of 24 years, 12 in each house - House 6 2-year terms and Senate 2 6-year terms. There should also be a law that former members of Congress can’t be lobbyists after leaving office.
Electoral College: Should be kept.
Voter ID: Oppose. Evidence suggests that disenfranchisement is much more of an issue than “voter fraud”
Compulsory Voting: Absolutely not
Voter Registration: It’s something people should be encouraged to do at 18, and it should be easy, painless and online. However, I oppose automatic registration. I don’t think voter fraud is much of a problem now, but it would be if we had auto registration.

So what does this all make me? A centrist? A pragmatist? A “third party nut job?”

Figured I post this to help further introduce myself on here:

Social Policy

Abortion: Pro-life. At the very least I would like to see a return to "safe, legal, and rare", which I think at least ends the sort of celebration of abortion that we occasionally see (though of course it is more often than not acknowledge by all concerned as a decision of tremendous gravity, which takes a mental toll).

Same-Sex Marriage: No strong feelings, as it seems to be fairly settled law. I'm reflexively socially conservative, but I don't have any real problem with it.

Drugs: I support the legalization of marijuana. Oppose needle exchanges and injection sites.

Alcohol: Keep the drinking age at 21.

Death Penalty: Opposed, but I constantly question myself on it. I use to support it, as it seemed to me to show that for ultimate evil there is the potential for the ultimate punishment, but I simply can't reconcile the death penalty with my strong belief that government should not sanction the taking of life when it can be avoided. The death penalty is the epitome of state sanctioned death. Of course I instinctively would like to put murderers to death, but that cedes the moral high ground too much. Government is designed to temper such impulses. In any event, I recognize that it is Constitutional, but oppose it none the less.

Gun Control: Better enforcement of current laws, close loopholes. Allow for no permit concealed carry.

Affirmative Action: Opposed, but I would rather phase it out instead of just ending it in one go.

Euthanasia: Strongly Opposed. I understand why some support it, but I think there are no guidelines that you can create that will keep us from slipping down a slippery slope.

Stem Cell Research: Opposed, but with hesitation.

Prostitution: Keep it illegal.

Pornography: Laws are mostly fine as they are.

Immigration: Conflicted. Generally, I support a policy of immigration and assimilation, requiring English skills and such. I support family based migration, and think that as with most policies immigration policy improves when we consider its impacts in terms of communities (including families, but also areas where immigrants settle) rather than simply looking at the bottom line. I do think we should simplify the process, but keep strict restrictions on the number of immigrants admitted. We should, however, create a separate track to encourage skilled immigrants. In any event, assimilation is key (though of course we don't need to stamp out identity).

Criminal justice: I oppose mandatory minimum sentencing, and think Judges should have more discretion in sentencing.

Surveillance: Repeal the Patriot Act, remove cameras from stoplights and other public areas.

Police: I generally think there needs to be more community policing, and would also like to see some demilitarization of American police forces, but we also have to recognize that the nature of crime changes over time, and so police will have to be adaptable to new situations.

Economic Policy

Minimum Wage: I can see indexing it to inflation, but no rapid increases.

Right-to-Work: Support, but I generally have a positive view of unions.

Tax Rates: Close income tax loopholes and end the mortgage tax deduction, but the rates are about right. As to corporate taxes, I would say current rates are fairly appropriate, but maybe could be lowered. Generally, I think the structure of the tax system is key, as opposed to simply the rates of taxation.

Healthcare: I've grudgingly accepted that the ACA is probably fine, for the moment at least. Some deregulation of insurance markets to increase competition would be good, though.

Social Security: Means test it, increase the taxable maximum. Gradually end benefits to upper income retirees ($1 Million plus per year). Modest increases in the retirement age.

Trade: Generally I'm for free trade, but I'm pragmatic on trade as both an economic and foreign policy tool. I support joining TPP to counter China's growing economic influence in Asia, for example, but I can also see times where tariffs or other trade restrictions are justified (especially in the agricultural sector).

Environment: I am concerned about climate change, but I take a pragmatic approach to addressing it. Mitigation seems imperative at this juncture. I also think supporting sustainable agriculture and small farmers is vital.

Education: I support public education. I think there should be less by way of federal intervention, while there should be greater federal aid to states for education.

Transit: Not a strong support of public transportation, if only for fiscal reasons.

Foreign Policy
(These responses are by no means comprehensive)

Russia: A major threat, to both the United States directly and to the world order (or whatever you want to call it) that we have helped to establish. Support strong sanctions and programs designed to isolate Russia. We also have to be careful to ensure that Russia remains willing to negotiate, and ensure that it remains largely stable internally (internal instability and a large arsenal of weapons of mass destruction is not a good combination). Putin is not ideal, but the alternatives are often worse (take Zhirinovsky for example). We should also seek to prevent Russia from expanding its influence via arms deals, which as we learned from the Cold War can create allies fairly quickly. Use a modern containment strategy and reinforce our European allies to buttress against Russia. Though this may give them some license for aggression, it will create new and serious geopolitical considerations which may prevent further aggression. This has been done to some extent, but it has been slipshod rather than concerted.

China: Perhaps the foremost geopolitical issue of the 21st century will prove to be China, in one way or another. Generally, I think a good first step in addressing the issues China presents is to seek to counter the Belt and Road Initiative. Increased US involvement in Africa, through trade deals that sponsor investment in infrastructure as well as through increased military and strategic support can help to counter China in Africa, while joining the Trans Pacific Partnership can start to counter China's economic influence in Asia. It's concerning that nations like Australia and the UK are becoming so economically intertwined with China, and while it may have been inevitable that trade between China and the outside world would increase, it is vital that we ensure our trade policies ensure that we continue to have greater influence than China in the markets of closely aligned countries. We should provide greater support to Taiwan, and also seek closer ties to Vietnam and Indonesia as potential bulwarks against Chinese influence in South East Asia, and place pressure on China in the South China Sea. Work with South Korea and Japan as well, and seek to win over developing countries in the region. Generally, the key to addressing China will be beating it in the influence game, and a combination of reserved hard power and expanded soft power will provide the best means of achieving this.

Israel: I am a proud Zionist. I am pessimistic about the prospect for peace between Israel and Palestine. Generally, as I see it, what Israelis will demand to ensure security and what Palestinians will demand to placate national honor are currently irreconcilable. At this juncture, at least some limited annexation is necessary as settlements in the West Bank are far to firmly rooted to be removed, but such annexation is unlikely to meet with Palestinian approval. And so here we are. Despite its flaws, the Trump exposes some very real truths about this present dynamic.

NATO: Strongly support. I would like to see greater contributions from other member states, but first and foremost we should ensure that NATO is strong and united. Turkey's drift is concerning to me, and we should work to ensure that such wayward action is avoided. Generally, I think we should reinforce NATO and seek to expand its influence in Eastern Europe as a means of buttressing against Russia. I also think a revival of some sort of SEATO would be a good way to counter China's growing influence by enlisting its neighbors in a concreted effort to check it.

UN: I oppose some things it does, but in general the United States cannot afford to withdraw from the United Nations. We should ensure that the veto power remains, and should work closely with member nations to support global stability. It's far from perfect, but the UN's structure and our membership of it is reflective of geopolitical realties.

Iraq: Use diplomatic pressure to promote domestic political reforms, while continuing security assistance. We need to ensure that Iraq does not fall into Iran's orbit.

Iran: A major threat to regional stability in the Middle East. We should seek to support Saudi Arabia and Israel in their respective proxy wars against Iranian backed groups, and should continue to prevent Iran's development of a nuclear weapon. We should bolster domestic opposition however we can.1

Afghanistan: As in Iraq, create pressure for domestic political reforms. Increase support for counter-terrorism operations, and drastically step up training of the Afghan Armed Forces. Of the all the revelations in the SIGAR Report, the fact that no serious training operations were undertaken in a meaningful way is truly the most concerning. High causality counts among the Afghan security forces (generally agreed to be outpacing replacement level) is perhaps the most concerning outcome of this neglect. A generalized "troop surge" would not work, at least not at this juncture, and our focus should be on building domestic security capacity.

Electoral Reform

Electoral College: Keep as is.

Gerrymandering: It's not great, but at the same time I think there is some over estimation of its effects. To that end, allow states to do what they want, and larger states should probably adopt commissions that presents plans for legislative and executive approval.

Term limits: Opposed for all office except for President, the powers of that office being so great that term limits seem logical.

Voter ID: I support voter ID laws, but would like to see the process for getting an ID of any kind simplified.

Voter registration: I oppose automatic registration, and in general I think the current process is fine (though I recognize many states have different procedures, so I can't really say how I would feel about it if I lived in Alabama or California)

Voting age: I strongly oppose lowering the voting age, at any level for any reason. Frankly, while I think there are many young people who would make capable and informed voters, they lack the sense of responsibility that comes with voting. Honestly, at 16, the impacts of what you are voting for are often too indirect. 18 is fine, even though I think it may be a little low, but I don't think raising the voting age is a good idea either.

Mandatory voting: Opposed.

Supreme Court: I strongly support life terms for Supreme Court appointees, and in general feel that life terms are the most appropriate for al judicial offices.

I am a Republican. I consider myself a conservative but am not the staunch conservative you'd think.

I believe that we need to act on climate change. I would incentivize renewable energy if I were in Congress.

I believe that universal background checks must be enacted to help protect the people.

I believe that taxes should be higher on the rich than the poor.

I am a right-leaning independent. I believe in some left wing social issues. (Gay marriages shouldn't be tampered with by the government, Marijuana should be legalized etc)

I am definitely tilted to the right on economic issues.

Maybe I'll do a full list sometime.

I believe in capitalism with regulations to address market failures and a moderate welfare state. I am fairly libertarian on social issues.

Economics

Taxes: I am open to a modest increase in income taxes on those making $500k+ a year, although marginal rates should never go much higher than 40%. Corporate should be low, and some of the tax burden should be shifted onto a VAT. No wealth tax. I am open to replacing property taxes with a land value at the local level. I support repealing the SALT deduction cap, although some states, including New York, should lower their taxes.

Welfare: Social security needs reform so that the trust fund gets better ROI.

Trade: I support free trade. Restrictions on free trade should only be considered for national security reasons or for diplomatic pressure.

Minimum wage: The federal minimum wage should be increased to $12/hr and adjusted for inflation afterwards. I am satisfied with the current minimum wage policy in New York where different regions have different minimum wages.

Healthcare: I support a public option for healthcare like Biden's plan

Education: I do not support free public college or student debt forgiveness. I do support free community college, however. I support vouchers for school choice. Universal pre-k is a waste of money.

Infrastructure: Increase spending to fix some of the roads and the bridges of this country. I do not think it would be economically feasible, however, to make a nationwide high-speed passenger rail network. The Northeast Corridor should be upgraded to allow for higher speeds.

Transportation: Increase spending on local public transportation. American cities are being held back by their reliance on cars.

Housing: Deregulate zoning laws to encourage density and lower housing costs. I oppose rent control.

Unions: I oppose public unions and right to work laws.

Social Issues

Abortion: Should be legal in the first 20 weeks. Afterwards, should only be legal if medically necessary. Keep Hyde Amendment.

LGBT rights: I support the right for gay couples to get married and adopt. Let people use the bathroom according to how they present and identify as either male, female, or nonbinary.

Gun control: There should be universal background checks. I support Trump's bump stock ban. I don't support assault rifle bans or any kind of confiscation/buy back. I support open carry with a permit. I don't know much about guns, so I'll leave it at that.

Death penalty: Oppose

Prostitution: Legalize

Euthanasia: Legal as long as the person is mentally sound.

Reparations for slavery: Oppose

Affirmative action: Oppose

Free speech: Support

Environment

Carbon tax: Support

Paris Climate Accord: Support

Renewable energy: Development of renewable energy should be subsidized. Nuclear isn't bad, either.

Fracking ban: Oppose

Criminal Justice

Drugs: Decriminalize all drugs and treat it like a medical issue. Legalize marijuana, but limit usage in public.

Voting rights: Felons should have the right to vote after being released.

Policing: Police should receive more training and oversight. I am opposed to defunding or abolishing the police. Some areas of the country need more policing, in fact.

Immigration

Border wall: No strong opinion. There are better uses for the money, but it's not the worst policy in the world.

Deportation: All illegal immigrants who commit a felony should be deported. The rest can stay once they are authorized and pay income taxes.

DACA: Support

Path to citizenship: After staying in the US for many years and paying a fine, perhaps citizenship can be granted for illegal immigrants if they have shown to be productive residents. It should be easier for a legal immigrant to get citizenship than an illegal immigrant.

Voting rights: No voting rights for noncitizens or minors.

Legal immigration: Should be easier and faster to immigrate to the US and become a permanent resident, especially to those who can provide high-skilled labor.

Work visas: Should be easier to obtain

Electoral Reform

Voter ID: Don't care, especially if the IDs are free

Compulsory voting: Oppose

Term limits: Oppose

Electoral college: In an ideal world, the president would be elected directly through the popular vote in a federally run election. That would require a constitutional amendment, so the NPVIC is the next-best alternative. I don't think this has a good chance of going through, so it's not an issue I think about too much.

Voting system: IRV is a good, but far from perfect, alternative to FPTP.

Supreme Court: Expansion sets a bad precedent and should be avoided.

Foreign Policy

I am not very informed on foreign policy, but I do have some general principles. I am mostly in favor of international institutions such as the UN and NATO as they can facilitate the solving of international problems. I am not reflexively opposed to military intervention, but diplomatic solutions should also be considered first. I am mostly pro-Israel.

I'd call myself very socially progressive, fiscally liberal, and a liberal internationalist with foreign policy.

Social Issues

Abortion: Pro-choice. Federally fund Planned Parenthood. Virtually no restrictions. Increase funding for public sex education and contraceptives to reduce the need for abortion.

Same Sex Adoption: Strongly support. Give same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples.

Transgender Rights: Allow individuals to use bathroom of their choice; allow the transition of all individuals above the age of 16. Prohibit discrimination against transgender individuals; ban the "gay panic" defense.

Marijuana: Legalize, regulate, tax. Expunge the records of non-violent offenders.

Death Penalty: Abolish.

Prostitution: Protect sex workers by decriminalizing sex work for sex workers, but not Johns. (Research shows this is the most effective way to guarantee their safety.)

Euthanasia: Strongly support. Require a psychological evaluation to determine they are of sound mind.

Reparations: Support. Don't know how it should be implemented.

Affirmative action: Support.

Gun control: National registry. Mandatory training, background check, and psychological evaluation, and three non-family character references. Limit three guns per individual. Ban assault-style weapons. Limit ammo/magazines. Routine inspections.

Drugs: Decriminalize and don't incarcerate people for simple possession. Give them rehabilitation. Open safe injection sites and needle exchange programs nationwide.

Confederate Statues: Tear them down.

Criminal justice: Drastically overhaul; transition to rehabilitative system of justice. Ban solitary confinement, maximum sentence of 20 years; mandatory job training and temporary housing upon release; ban three strikes law; ban mandatory minimums; ban cash bail; allow all felons to vote during and after their sentencing; most crimes should not result in prison.

Police reform: Demilitarize the police; require police live in their communities; body cameras on at all times; ban the hiring of cops fired or suspended for misconduct; automatic investigation of all fatal shootings; ban police from having sex with people in their custody; ban police quotas for things like tickets; drastically reduce funding; desegregate duties so that social workers handle necessary cases rather than police; BAN QUALIFIED IMMUNITY; ban no-knock raids.

Immigration: Automatic citizenship for every single non-violent undocumented immigrant. Make it drastically easier to immigrate to the United States. Basically, I want a step below open borders. Abolish ICE. Shut down the border camps. Reparations for individuals in the camps. Immediately set up a system for family reunification. Bar ICE employees from federal employment.

Economic Issues

Minimum Wage: $15 hour nation wide, indexed to inflation.

Welfare: Drastically expand Earned Income Tax Credit; drastically expand the child tax credit; implement Cory Booker's baby bond plan. Allow immigrants to be eligible. Basically, expand the social safety net to the extent that no on ever need to worry about putting food on the table.

Taxes: Reduce taxes for low-income earners. Drastically increase for the wealthy. Eliminate the mortgage interest deduction. Increase taxes on corporations.  Increase the estate tax. Tax capital gains as income. Create way more tax brackets.

Social security: Eliminate the cap on payroll tax. Raise the retirement age to social security. Use income taxes to fund social security. Increase social security payroll tax.

Sin taxes: Tax soda, cigarettes, and alcohol.

Wealth tax: Support.

Value-Added tax: Support, with dividend for low-income earners.

Healthcare: Public option.

Foreign Policy

Russia: Sanction. Condemn their election interference and the bounty they placed on American soldiers. Defend Ukraine from Russian aggression.

China: Biggest 21st century threat. Sanction. Condemn their treatment of the Uyghurs as genocide. Recognize Taiwan as a sovereign country. Allow Hong Kong residents to seek refugee status. Go after their IP theft. Counter their influence in Africa.

Israel: Condition their aid on stopping annexation and make them stop treating Palestinians like sub-humans. Make them give back stolen land and homes.

Palestine: Provide humanitarian aid on the condition that they give women and LGBT+ rights. Designate Hamas as a terrorist.

Iran: Renegotiate Iran nuclear deal.

Latin America: Expand humanitarian aid and strengthen our relationship with allies like Mexico and Brazil.

India: Support India against Chinese aggression.

NATO/UN: Drastically increase our presence.

Military spending: Redirect most funding to R&D. Increase intelligence spending, and naval spending. Drastically reduce ground troops, but leave intelligence operatives.

General: China Hawk. Russia Hawk. Multilateral coalitions focused on diplomacy and humanitarian aid. Promote liberal democracy. Climate change should be an international effort.

Environmental Policy

Carbon Tax: Support.

Environmental Regulations: Support.

Subsidies: Eliminate fossil fuel subsidies. Expand wind and solar subsidies.

Nuclear: Strongly support.

Paris Accords: Rejoin.

Electoral Policy

Electoral College: Eliminate, replace with national popular vote.

Senate: Make proportional to population.

House: Eliminate 435 cap.

DC statehood: Support.

PR statehood: Support.

Gerrymandering: Independent commission.

Term limits: Oppose.

Voter ID: Oppose.

Compulsory voting: Oppose.

Automatic registration: Support.

Expand early voting: Support.

Expand absentee voting: Support.

Social:

Abortion: Illegal with exception for mother's life
Assisted Suicide: Opposed
Death Penalty: Opposed
War on Drugs: Opposed
Gun Control: Opposed
PATRIOT Act: Opposed
Illegal Immigration: End benefits to illegals

Economic:

Monetary: Gold Standard, End the Fed
Taxes: Repeal 16th Amendment, replace with low tariffs
Spending: Drastically cut
Regulations: Deregulate
Healthcare: Privatize
Corporations: End subsidies

Foreign Policy:

Afghanistan: Pull out immediately
Iraq: Never go back
Israel/Palestine: End US support of Israel
Iran: End sanctions
Saudi Arabia: End Alliance
Russia: Develop peaceful relations
Foreign Aid: End it
UN: Leave
NATO: Leave
Military Spending: Cut by at least 50%

My views are definitely not the same as they were back in 2014.

Social:

Life: Abortion and assisted suicide should be illegal at the national level.  There should be an exception in the case that an abortion is truly necessary to save a mother's life.  There should be some form of legal punishment for abortion.

Death Penalty: I'm against it, though I don't put it in the same category as abortion and assisted suicide.

War on Drugs: Legalize weed, but keep the really dangerous drugs illegal.

Marriage: Oppose any attempts to legalize polygamous or polyandrous marriages if that becomes a political issue in the future.  Continue to allow churches, synagogues, mosques, and other religious institutions to decide if they want to perform same-sex marriages or not.

Prostitution: Should be illegal.

Gun control: I'm opposed to gun control.

PATRIOT Act: Still opposed, horrible law.

Immigration: Immigration laws should be enforced.  Building a massive border wall is not worth the money, however.  The US should continue to take in legal immigrants.  If I was in Europe, I would be much more restrictionist in my views on immigration.  I also reject the "demographics is destiny" crowd.

Affirmative Action: Race-based affirmative action is wrong, but socioeconomic affirmative action is fine.

Reparations: My ancestors were abolitionists, but even if they were slave-owners, it wouldn't matter.  People who never owned slaves shouldn't have to pay reparations to people who never were slaves.

Policing: Some sort of police reform is necessary, but I honestly have no idea exactly what is needed.

Economic:

Monetary: I'm not 100% sure that ending the Fed is a good idea at this moment, but we should definitely look into it.  The Gold Standard or Free Silver should also be on the table.

Taxes: The rich don't need any more tax cuts.

Spending: Cut government spending within reason.

Healthcare: Some sort of reform is necessary.  I don't want the government to control healthcare, however.

Regulation: Deregulation is probably necessary in some sectors of the economy.  Other sectors probably need more regulation and oversight, such as fracking.

Corporations: They have way too much power.  Repeal Citizen's United.  Raise corporate taxes.

Foreign Policy:

Middle East: The US needs to drastically scale back its involvement.  I oppose any intervention in Syria as of now.  If an ISIS-like group began taking over large parts of the country again, then intervention should be a consideration.  The US needs to stop trying to spread democracy in the region.  Let people like Hussein, Assad, and Qaddafi stay in power, even if they aren't great leaders.  Continue to support Israel, but phase out aid to the country.  Israel should stop building new settlements on the West Bank.  Iran should not be trusted, though I oppose military intervention against the country.  The alliance with Saudi Arabia should be ended.

Russia: America is not at war with Russia, and that's a good thing.  The Cold War is over, and speaking of that...

NATO: Has outlived its usefulness.

Defense Spending: Should be cut.

Foreign military bases: We should close some of them.  There's no reason to have a military presence in Germany in 2020.

Economic Issues

Health Care: I support a Public option, and ideally it would be funded via payroll taxes and an income tax hike and would not involve any premiums. On top of this it should have the same reimbursement rates as medicare, and it should allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices. One key element that I believe any serious Public Option should contain, is that it should automatically enroll anyone who is uninsured, and any newly born children. This will inevitably result in universal coverage. I’d also like to see the benefits it covers include what is currently covered by Medicare, along with dental, vision, and hearing. As a starting measure in absence of a Public Option, as is the case now, I support lowering the Medicare age to 50.

Minimum Wage: Raise to $15 per hour, index for inflation and make changes to accommodate rural areas.

Education: Make colleges tuition free for incomes under 150k.

Unions: I’m strongly supportive of proposals such as the PRO Act.  Along with that, I support repealing Taft-Hartley and the ending of all right to work laws. A strong labor movement is necessary for the growth of the middle and working class.

Social Security: Increase monthly benefits. Lift cap on SS payroll tax.

Trade: I am not particularly opposed to free trade as a concept, but I am strongly skeptical of free trade deals (NAFTA, TPP, etc..). Targeted Tariffs should be implemented to prevent outsourcing, and I believe we should deny government contracts to companies who outsource.

Taxes: I support a top rate of 50%, believe that capital gains should be taxed as ordinary income.

Social Issues-

Gun Rights: I oppose gun control in almost all forms, and am unabashedly Pro-2A. Firearm ownership is a matter of personal liberty and protect, and such rights should not be encroached upon.

Abortion: I am Pro-Life. Abortion should be limited and curtailed as much as possible, and I view it as a societal evil. There should be a ban on it after 6 weeks. I am willing to make exceptions case of rape, incest, and life of the mother. Under no circumstances should federal funds/taxpayer dollars should be used for the funding/subsidization of Abortions (I support the Hyde Amendment, the Helms Amendment, and the Mexico City policy etc.., and I also believe that groups like Planned Parenthood should no longer receive federal funding)

Death Penalty: Support

Drugs: Legalize Marijuana

Police reform: I do support demilitarization of Police, however I oppose more drastic measures such as cuts to police budgets. I do believe that we should end private prisons, however.

Foreign Policy

Keep military spending at current levels or increase where necessary. Increase spending on weaponry and technology procurement. Only cut where there is waste. I generally describe myself as an interventionist.

We need to take a tough stance on Russia and China. They are, without a doubt, our two biggest adversaries. A muscular and heavy military presence in Southeast Asia and Europe is essential. In regards to Europe, maintain a strong military presence in the Eastern part of the continent (Poland, Latvia, Romania, Ukraine) to deter and push back apon Russian influence and encroachment. The same goes for China, we must maintain our bases and increase arsenal in areas closer to China (specifically the Philippines and Guam) to contain, deter and counter the Chinese. Overall China and Russia are the biggest foreign threats to the US and must be opposed everywhere in the strongest possible way. I do not want war;no one does, but a strong international stance is, in my view, the best way to secure peace.

Other/Related stances:

-Increase number of military bases in Eastern Europe.

-Rejoin Iran Deal

-Pro-Israel. I have always supported a two state solution.

-Implement tough economic sanctions against Russia, North Korea, Iran, and China.

Political Reforms:

Political Parties: Strong Political Parties. A party system with a few smaller, more ideologically disciplined parties is more able to hold their opposition to account and avoid walking back on their promises to their supporters.

Upper House: Mixed Method. Maintain the existing equality among states as political entities, but include some members elected through limited franchises based on their participation in trade unions, as well as some appointed members, and sorted members.

Conscription: Nominal Draft. Make women register alongside men at their 18th birthdays. If women are good enough to serve in combat roles, surely then they can get drafted, too.

Trade Unions: Strong Trade Unions. The Taft-Hartley Act, among other legislation limiting trade unions’ ability to organize and advocate for their membership, should be repealed.

Vote Franchise: Universal. Every state should use hand-counted paper ballots, and have a common standard for counting, tabulating, recording, and certifying tallies.

Voting System: Proportional Representation. Moving to a system under this umbrella would likely help break up the two-party system that has been a toxic plague on our politics.

Debt Law: Consolidate Debt. In particular, the issuance of sovereign debt to support overextended infrastructure projects designed for cars is atrocious. We need a more financially viable model to function that doesn’t depend on so much debt.

Slavery: Prohibited. Pass an amendment to the Constitution which prohibits any unpaid labor.

Public Meetings: All Allowed. Protests are supposed to make those in power feel uncomfortable. Placing arbitrary restrictions on their time, place, and manner is an unconstitutional restriction on their right to assemble.

Social Reforms:

Minimum Wage: Collective Bargaining. Trade unions should have the authority to negotiate these with the employer in the contract.

Work Hour Limit: Collective Bargaining. Trade unions should have the authority to negotiate these with the employer in the contract.

Safety Regulations: Strong Safety Regulations. Consumers should be confident that the products they are using are not going to poison or harm them.

Unemployment: Sliding Scale. Not everyone has the same need with unemployment. Let’s stop having welfare cliffs be a thing and have more tailored solutions.

Pensions: Good Pensions. Pensions might be financed through a public investment account which acts as a form of superannuation, as exists in Australia, as a base model.

Health Care: Public Health Care. A nationalized system of healthcare should be matched by dramatic and sweeping changes to Americans’ habits that enable all of these health problems in the first place.

School System: Good Public Schools. Private and charter schools should be nationalized and made part of the existing public school system, especially K-12 education. Adopt a common core set of subjects, for example.

Penal System: Rehabilitation. The existing punitive attitude towards corrections has been used to persecute millions of Black and Latino and Indigenous Americans. We need to break the prison pipeline and outlaw private prisons.

Matters of State:

Child Labor: Prohibited. The children should be in school.

Bureaucracy: Professional Civil Servants. Bureaucrats should be selected for their competency and excellence, rather than racial pedigree or connections to those already in the civil services.

Political Rights: Transcendental. If you’re an American, you should never have your right to cast a ballot abridged for any reason once you have achieved the age of majority.

Press Rights: Public Journalism. Local community journalism should be a powerful check on the business of local governments and cover community happenings in a way that national media is often impotent at, beholden as they are to property owners.
