As a side-note: the Young Democrats of Georgia convention next month is in Columbus; the final day is a morning trip down to Plains to see ol' Jimmy teach Sunday school.

OMG! Awesome!

FF. He was and is a great man. As I've said before, the winner of the 1976 presidential election was doomed from the start. If anyone was a victim of outside circumstances, it was him.

IMO he had more courage, maturity, and foresight as President than any of his successors.

Certainly no liberal (let alone left-wing) hero. Honest, sure, but with a strong dose of self-righteous moralism. He began some of the policies that were credited to/blamed on his successor (s). Awful tendency to micro-manage his administration and a terrible White House staff and Cabinet.

Committed the greatest moral and geopolitical travesty of the past half-century, chiefly amongst many, many failings. HP.

You should watch this ABC News clip from December 1979:

Living through the 1979-80 era would have been absolutely insane. Can you imagine if this forum existed back then, simultaneously juggling discussion on the hostage crisis, stagflation, Thatcherism, Iraq-Iran, USSR-Afghanistan, Vietnam-Cambodia, Northern Ireland, Olympic boycott, the 1980 campaign, and Update?
I agree. Sometimes I with that the Internet was available for commercial use 25-30 years earlier than it actually was. Imagine what the forum discussions on Watergate would have looked like.
