Here's a little experiment: UK maps from 1955 to 1997 with a new shading system. For each election - using Sibboleth's outlines

No, but these maps weren't drawn that way anyway.

Though the really traditional way of calculating swing is to ignore entirely parties that aren't Labour or the Tories (normally this would now be called a 'Butler swing' - after David Butler - rather than just 'swing').

Anyway IIRC stepney made one once, but I can't recall where it was posted or whether the image is still even online?

Either way I've been meaning to get round to doing some stuff of that election for a while, so maybe watch this space.
