Fascinating that Paul and Huckabee do the best.

But Christie and Bush are so moderate!

Huckabee and Cruz also lead in the primary there.

It seems Oregon Republicans are actually pretty right wing, that's a bit surprising.

Not considering that the Portland area is voting almost entirely Democrat at this point. In order to have moderate GOP influence from large cities the national party has to be at least somewhat attractive in the suburbs like it still is in suburban Columbus and Cincinnati, suburban Milwaukee, suburban Los Angeles and Phoenix. Not the case in Portland and several other cities that formerly had incredibly centrist suburbs, Chicago included.

The sorts of people who used to vote for moderate Republicans like McCall, Hatfield, Packwood, and Smith seem to have gone D in Presidential elections.

Oregon and Washington have the most left-wing Democrats and the most right-wing Republicans. Very ideologically polarized.

Its interesting because the Republicans elected in the state were all moderates, but took some positions that were directly to the left of some Democrats in the state (For example: Hatfield was against Vietnam, his first Senate opponent, Robert Duncan, was for it, Packwood supported civil rights legislation, was pro-choice and pro-gun control, and voted against Clarence Thomas).

Geographically polarized too! Although Oregon Republicans have been irrelevant for some time. Hes fun to make fun of, but Dino Rossi was able to make some decent showings even if he didn't win. And they had the AG and SoS for quite a while as well.

Moderates have no reason to vote for Christie and conservatives have no reason to turn out for him.

Moderates have no reason to vote for Christie and conservatives have no reason to turn out for him.

They will anyway though, because of the (R).

Oregon's 2nd Congressional District--which consists of the entire eastern portion of the state--is R+10.

Eventually, yes, but not in a poll in 2014. It's why he's last here--just like the disappointed liberals in 2010-11 driving down Obama's percentage.

I don't know if that's exactly true.

Two and a half years out, 51% is a great number.

The Hatfield & Javits era is over. Republicans now are all right-wing.
