I've seen Sanford on cable twice, and he seems pretty lightweight. Although he seems like a nice guy and wouldn't be nearly as polarizing as Dubya.

He's dangerous.  Southern, Charming, Chrisitian, DC Outsider, Governor, Picture pefect family, Wife is a judge...  As time goes on he will be the one I would least like to see at the top of the Republican ticket in 2008.  Right now, he doesnt have the name recognition.

1. Among the realistic possibilities, Warner.

2. McCain is a man totally without basic decency of scruples.

I hope to do one of these every month, to gauge how the forum is feeling on the 2008 Presidential election. I'm assuming people will change candidates often.

Please select ONE candidate when answering applicable questions.

Democrats

1. Whom do you support for the Democratic Nomination in 2008?
2. Which Republican would you most want to NOT get the Republican Nomination in 2008?

1. Wisconsin Sen. Russell Feingold

2.  South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford

1. Bill Owens, but I wish we had a stronger front runner right now.

Hmmm, for the next question, do I pick a Dem I would hate to see elected, but who has no chance to win, or do I pick a moderate who has a good chance of winning?

I'm assuming you want a Republican to win, so who do you think has the best chance of making that not happen?

1. Hillary/ Warner absolutely deadly.
2. McCain/Guiliani could be tough to beat if the above dont get selected.

That's what I meant by "B".  Bayh looks to be the best choice for a Dem win in 2008.  Hillary was my "A" choice.

How unique when the Democrats appear more united than the Republicans.

1. Rick Santorum unless someone like Brownback or Ashcroft doesn't jump in

2. Governor Bedresen is the toughest Democrat to defeat.

Good choices.

Allen is the best of the Republicans while Warner the best of the Democrats.

Both will have a problem with what I suspect is going to be a major issue in 2008: illegal immigration.

Its a good thing Warner is on the right side of this issue.  He recently signed a measure that denies illegal aliens public benefits, including access to Medicaid, welfare and local health care services.
