Economic Left/Right: 7.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.13

This may shock some of you, but my economic score was the exact opposite in March of this year. 0_o

My social score hasn't changed a bit.

Wow. So you basically used to be me, until March. :-)

Not really. I think the thing kinda scores you towards the left, intentionally or not. You see very few 10s in the right side, but many on the left. Plus there is the fact that some of the questions just plain suck. In reality I was only moderate-left economically.

all true.  I'm a centrist, but I generally get low negatives (e.g., varying from -4 to 1, typically) on the economic scale.  But, as I commented before, on the populist vs. anarchist scale, it seems to bear out the posts of most of the posters.  don't you think?

Also, dibble = milton friedman  Wink

Yeah, it's somewhat more accurate on social issues, though only if the answers reflect your political views on them. I know a few Libertarians who are Christian fundamentalists, yet at the same time they think the state should allow gay marriage(though not their church), let people do drugs, and make all sorts of decisions they view as sinful. They'd score a positive on the compass, but they would really be a negative politically.

This Milton Friedman? Aww shucks, I'm not that much of an economics expert, I just had a good economics book to learn from. I'll look it up later.

EDIT - The book I used was called Principles of Microeconomics. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to understand how the market works. There's a macroeconomics book by the same author as well. I'd get that if I had the cash to spare, but until my income increases my personal demand curve won't shift to the right. Wink

I had the Principles of Macroeconomics book for my Macro class. I thought it was very well written and did an excellent job of explaining how our economy functions.

Here is the page I created for the political compass on Atlas Wiki. I just used scores that were in people's profiles, let me know if you want your score on there, with any updates or anything.

Sweet.

I think you should have two other lists, though: one ordered from left-to-right economically and one ordered from left-to-right socially.  I personally think that that would be pretty cool to see.

I might do that. I'd also like to do a page listing the PC scores of elected officials and candidates.

This time:

Nothing if not consistent, I suppose.

MHS, it looks like you have one economic question you bounce back and forth on and two or three social questions. Do you know what they are by any chance?

I don't know. I think I switch back and forth between "Agree" to "Strongly Agree" (or "Disagree" to "Strongly Disagree") on some questions which would probably account for the changes.
