Yes, the Republicans should nominate Trump.

It'll be like 1984... just in reverse.

Reading these kind of posts never grows old.

The real question is...if Trump is nominated, will he win?

I assume some of this stuff is said "tongue-in-cheek".  Especially the Bush or Clinton line.

In all seriousness, I suspect that 2020 will show America the full advantage of incumbency a President enjoys in a re-election campaigns, as well as those limits.  It will be something like Carter 1980 or Reagan 1984; not as sweeping either way, but a clear verdict, one way or the other.

Between Fake News and FOX news, it really is getting a more like 1984 every day. (The novel, I mean.)

Wow, you're already thinking about 2020? We haven't even cleared the 2016 primary season yet! Smiley However, I guess if Jeb wins he will be the odds-on favorite.

Jeb has it in the bag against Hillary. He will be one of the Republicans strongest candidates and will take in enough suburban voters and minority's to win

Come on Dems at this sight.  Do not tell me would rather see Melania walk out of the White House rather than the hag or any other possible 2020 nominee or 2020 nominee's spouse.

I think he stands a shot - the primary may be a tough race but he has the money to compete.

If he can define Hillary early, I think he has a realistic shot at beating her. He has an extraordinary amount of experience with economics and has traveled around the world, giving him ample foreign policy experience. He's tough but sincere, and as Napoleon stated, his actions over Obama's birth certificate showed real leadership when others were too scared.

What happened to Tmth?!
Well, the foreign policy bit was pretty off, but I will take credit as being one of the few who thought he had a decent chance from the beginning!

Clearly Atlas overestimated the intelligence of the voters and the health of the American political system.
Wrong, Atlas underestimated the power of GEOTUS!

After just gazing through Trump's ontheissues page I think his key to some electoral success, as an independent or third party candidate, would be to play the role of Pat Buchanan or Ross Perot and champion economic protectionism along with fiscal conservatism.  If he stays on message about these issues then I would imagine that he could do well with blue-collar whites and high-school educated whites in the Rust belt and South.

This aged well.

But Trump talked about the same issues in 2013 and 2014. I watched old clips from 2014 where he complained that "everybody is ripping us off" and "China and Mexico are stealing our jobs."

Yes, it is time for Trump to make another season of The Apprentice.

This one does not include him saying "You're Fired" to Jeff Sessions. He actually doesn't like firing people in person.

Yeah, I remember the days when people at least pretended to care about more than the letter after someone's name. I remember when a candidate could lose by double digits in a state favorable to their party if they made really stupid comments. Now a capital R guarantees so much more than it used to.

Trump was saying the same thing in the 1980's too. Watch the old Oprah clips.
