The Farmers-Laborers renominated the incumbent President Underwood in a landslide, naturally, and (no offense to Vice President Johnson) picked likable, left-wing Senator John Worth Kern as his running-mate in what appeared to be a reemphasis of their leftist causes that had been for the most part completely derailed by crushing the dirty secessionists. The war is going well, by the way, with almost all of the old Confederacy placed under military government - some contemplated nominating ex-Governor of Louisiana and noted black person P.B.S. Pinchback in an attempt to push the Reconstruction issue and reach out to the Unionists (a group of people with whom Pinchback associated for a while before becoming an independent circa 1890), but they're stupid. Why the hell would he do that? Anyway, Underwood is running on the same platform as last time - crushing the KKK, trying to un-racistify the South, instituting a complete ban on child labor, and finally passing a goddamn income tax (an amendment that he has regretfully admitted he needs the South to pass). Y'all know the drill.

Senator Root wrapped things up nicely at the convention as it became clear that he was "inevitable" (in the words of one newspaper), and chose Sen. John W. Weeks as his running mate in an apparent attempt to confuse Farmer-Laborers. They also support a relatively strong force in the South and oppose the Klan, though their post-Reconstruction plans are quite different from the Underwood/Kern ticket (hint: they're the same positions Lodge and Cannon and Lodge had - general right-wingery, though unlike Cannon and like Lodge he tentatively supports shifting the nation's military attention to the war in Europe).

The Bull-Meese have nominated rising star and progressive isolationist William E. Borah alongside the much more experienced but less attractive Charles E. Hughes, and have shown great self-control in not making signs or slogans or anything like that about their middle initials being the same. Their positions are basically the same as those of the FLP, but Borah has emphasized that he really, really does not want to go to war with Europe, to which Underwood responded in one memorable debate with "dude calm down ok no one here wants to go to war" and then Root was all like "oscar i'm right here god you're such an asshole".

The Populists are literally running the exact same ticket as last time, and are basically the same as the FLP except that they support recognizing the Confederacy as an independent nation and are running on the slogan "He'll Keep Us Out Of War", a nice little touch Gov. Wilson came up with.  them.

Root, of course.

Is Bilbo gonna get the noose once the war is over?

Unless you elect Glass, probably yes.

Wow, guys. Some random dude no one cares about is beating the man who won the Civil War. I suppose we've got to keep up our trend of no party winning multiple elections in a row since 1904.

You underestimate me, Mr. Supersonic. It was a tragedy for the Farmers-Laborers that the core of their party happened to be concentrated in the South and therefore was unable to vote in most of the Confederate states (except Arkansas and Texas, where the Army was able to quickly set up a functioning military government), effectively handing the election to the Northern Unionists, who suffered no such losses. It is also a tragedy that the left remains so divided - we've had that god-damned BMP around for far too long for certain people's tastes!

It's worth noting that Underwood's share of the vote is almost exactly the same as it was in 1912. He never even got to a quarter of the vote.

The Bull-Moose Party is actually doing quite well, so I don't think you can really argue for their elimination quite yet Sad
