A Magellan Strategies (R) poll, conducted for the group Opportunity Ohio, of 2,083 likely voters between June 9th-11th with a 2.15% MOE.

Q1.  Do you have a favorable or
unfavorable opinion of John Kasich?

Favorable………........45%
Unfavorable…………37%
No Opinion………….13%
Never heard of………..2%
Unsure………………..3%

Q2.    Do you have a favorable or
unfavorable opinion of Ed FitzGerald?

Favorable………........25%
Unfavorable…………24%
No Opinion………….32%
Never heard of………16%
Unsure………………..3%

Q3. Do you approve or disapprove of the job John Kasich is doing as Governor?

Approve..………........49%
Disapprove..…………35%
No Opinion………….16%

Q4. If the election for Governor
were being held today, would you vote
for Ed FitzGerald the Democrat
candidate or John Kasich, the
Republican candidate?

John Kasich..…...........47%
Ed FitzGerald..………39%
Some other candidate…4%
Undecided...………….10%

The breakdowns really aren't important since we already know this is a Republican firm, but they did undersample African Americans here by 5 points.

The great thing about this poll though is it was conducted not long after Kasich's/RGA's TV ad surge and even a GOP poll has his approvals and his lead below 50. After FitzGerald's "Promise" ad makes the impact on Ohio that it does and gets FitzGerald's name out there to the 1/2 of Ohioans who still don't know who he is, his favorable ratings will arguably be higher than Kasich's here and Team FitzGerald will capitalize.

Well, at least it is better than 15. I see it now as a 5 pt race, not necessarily 8.
